In a world of smug bellends, you have to go some way to find a bigger one.

Wow, I was only replying to @cafcdave123 !
  • Mayor makes improvements to lives of his electorate.  Disgraceful.

Southgate yes as England's second most successful manager, Khan no (maybe once retired) but for me I am delighted that Gerald Davies the brilliant Welsh and British Lions winger and longtime administrator has been awarded with a knighthood.

Having met him he is a fine man and well deserving of this honour for a lifetime's service to his sport.

Under Sadiq Khan a full audit of West Ham’s contract for the Olympic Stadium exposed exactly how shoddy it was and they now pay nearly double the rent the original contract allowed for, albeit nowhere near enough. He has also said it won’t be sold to those ****ers on his watch.

Some contrast to the previous Mayor who did the shoddy deal and then did his level best to cover it up. Doubtless the next Mayor will be a Tory, bouyed by a handsome donation from Prague ( Kretinsky, not me🤣) and then it will be sold to them.

That alone is not worth the knighthood, but its a bloody good start. Integrity and good governance on display. Contrast that to the scumbags in the Lords trying to block the Football Regulatoŕ, led by none other than Baroness Brady

Investigating something dodgy your predecessor from the other party did in office is hardly especially brave or noteworthy. It's a free hit.

Kretinsky's takeover of Royal Mail has just been approved by the current LABOUR government, so I doubt he'll be bankrolling the Tories anytime soon.

I agree with you there. Strange to give it to him whilst he's still mayor.

London is a fantastic city and the Knighthood (so far as gongs mean anything) is well deserved.
shocked at this a long standing archaic award based on our colonial past.

Irrespective of the merits of the Mayor of London, the fact anyone can get this award before Kevin Sinfield just shows what a nonsense it is
    this with bells on.

however he has only raised millions and lost his best mate and not bought uncontrolled violence to the capital of England aswell as other nonsense carry on.

Genuinely astonished that people can bring themselves to get upset about knighthoods in this day and age. Unless he’s going to participate in a siege or turn up to feudal councils I’m not sure it really matters. Have a chocolate orange and stick The Guns of Navarone on, it’s going to be ok.

You might not care about the knighthood nonsense but please that others do. You can get back to watching cartoons as you can escape from reality.
You really don't have to comment on this thread if you have no opinions on knighthoods.
I do, so I used my soapbox to share it.

    Talking of escape.
I did watch 'Escape to Victory' for only the 2nd time and my Favourite actor Michael Caine was even superb in that fun film and thankfully that game didn't go to penalty, though we did have Pele and Ardiles 😀
  • David Cameron's hairdresser was far more deserving.

I smiled when I read that he was getting a knighthood, knew it would rile up all the right people.
I see your Khan getting a knighthood and raise you Trump being reelected.

I'd consider changing 'Empire' to 'Isles' maybe, but my views on it aren't strong, and I'm a long time out of London so have no need to incur the wrath of Khan.

But he isn’t a particularly long standing public servant relative to many other MPs is he?

Im just not sure what particularly he is being honoured for given London on many counts is not performing well / has more negatives than positives
     .

I assume Starmer is ‘buying’ his compliance / keeping him sweet for any demands he makes if him if lack of funding he provides.

If on the other hand it’s for a very specific thing then I have missed it.

I'm loving these Labour nominations, and Nigel Farage will be even more so. In fact it would be difficult to find two high-ranking, bubble dwelling, incompetent Labourites who despise the English more than these two (or the Jews as well, in Khan's case).

It sends a powerful message, but probably not in the way that Two Tier thinks it does.

Happy New Year, Great Britain....and good luck, you're going to need it.

Personally. I don't think knighthoods should be given to politicians. Just stinks to be honest. Keep it for charity workers, entertainers and sportsmen.

Takes no responsibility when it goes wrong.

Drives around in parades full of Chelsea tractors whilst condemning decent hard working citizens to the ulez

In charge of murder capital. .

Racist pig by claiming a white family doest represent true Londoners.

Hates the monarchy and our empire but is happy to take the sword. Effing hypocrite.

Crime capital of the UK and rising bot his fault of course.

Millions of pounds wasted on committee to bring down statues of great British heroes.

Bankrupt the TFL and blamed everyone else.

Delivered crossraill 4 years late and we'll over budget.

Failed to deliver the new homes he promised.

Backed an horrendous over sized balloon like his ego on one of the world's great leaders.

Has had more transport strikes than the previous 3 mayor's put together.

And those that think he's great cos Londoners voted him in 3 times so did the electorate with Thatcher.

Only one ignorant shock jock will entertain him, birds of a feather.

Man is vile and you lot that voted for him, you are truly welcome to him.

    This just for starters.
