These are the words to the Forest version of the song:
City Ground
Oh mist rolling in from the Trent
My desire is always to be here
Oh City Ground
Far have I travelled and much have I seen
Goodison, Anfield are places I've been
Maine Road, Old Trafford still echo to the sound
Of the boys in the red from the City Ground
City Ground
Oh mist rolling in from the Trent
My desire is always to be here
Oh City Ground
Passing the leather like Clougie's great men
Please take us back to the days I knew then
Games when we sang in the Nottingham choir
When we thrashed the sheep from Derbyshire
City Ground
Oh mist rolling in from the Trent
My desire is always to be here
Oh City Ground
Smiles in the sunshine, Football like champagne
Still take me back to where my memories remain
Flickering embers growing higher and higher
And a new squad of players for us to inspire
City Ground
Oh mist rolling in from the Trent
My desire is always to be here
Oh City Ground

The opening to Cigarettes & Alcohol by Oasis is said to resemble the opening to Get It On by T-Rex, and it does, but when I listen to it it sounds more like the opening to Bad Medicine by Bon Jovi (which was probably also "influened" by T-Rex)
(But then there's a whole playlist to be made from songs Oasis we're "influenced" by!)0 -
I’m sure this has been posted here before somewhere, but the Axis of Awesome sketch might give you a few ideas of chord sharing songs…

My take is that it wasnt really the Stones fault as the bloke (Klein) did the same thing to them. And it's a bit disingenuous to say the verve only sample 4 seconds of the track, when that same 4 seconds is repeated throughout and, arguably, IS the main part of the song that sticks in the mind. After all, a set of lyrics without a tune is "just" poetry, not a song.0 -
