Pretty much every signing at that level will be on a free and you're ignoring the fact that he is probably one of the highest paid players in their league.

I am not ignoring anything and wasn’t considering wages as I have no idea what Ahadme is earning 

I was simply pointing out that Ahadme is one goal better off than Bonne this season so equally as poor

Granted Ahadme hasn’t exactly  set the world alight however his strike and technical ability with his goal  against Southend  is something Bonne could only dream about.

Bet he dreams about the goal he scored against Derby, great build up & clinical finish from the edge of the box.

Still yet to score for Southend in 23 appearances.

Another mate of mine is a fan at Gillingham and he, and his long-suffering wife told be he was absolutely useless.

Coupled with the amount of times I have said the same I reckon it's safe to say he has done well to steal a living for this long but he really ought to call it a day

And to think he turned down playing internationally for Zimbabwe when he was with us because he wanted to remain available should England come calling

Someone made the point that they was annoyed replayed were scrapped. I made the comment Southend missed out on their replay and he didn't get his match at the Valley hardly a huge mention warranting an update.

I am sure he is mentioned in the non-league thread from time to time.

You've lost me there... I think it's fine to update a player's thread. Some aren't interested in what's happening with ex-players and that's fair enough, there's a few topics on this board I'm not interested in, I just don't open the thread.

I am trusting you then to update us on when he scores a goal then. I got stick updating the Lyle Taylor,  another controversial Charlton player, thread (someone will probably update that one now) at least he scores goals unlike Bonne.

I was told by somebody at the clubat the time there was no issue with his heart….this was just put out there to avoid the call-up

Don't think he has been good enough to play international football for Zimbabwe or England (his best chance of England calling would been when he was at QPR or Ipswich not Gillingham or Southend). He wasn't the same player when he came back to us (and if he can't get in our team why do you think he would be an international player)?

Right, I was referring to the comment that he turned down Zimbabwe because he was hoping to play for England. 

Back in 2019 there was a comment, from Talksport, that  “Charlton Athletic striker Macauley Bonne could be about to pause his international career as he sets his sights on a possible England call-up in the future,” but that was pre him playing for Gillingham.

He’d already played for Zimbabwe when we signed him the first time hadn’t he? No he hadn't, and if you look at the article it says 'the Addicks ace has had an excellent spell in the side as a replacement for Lyle Taylor, scoring five goals in seven starts' and they were tipping him to be the next Jamie Vardy.

Although he has played for Zimbabwe, he has only played friendlies so (like the Declan Rice situation) they wouldn't count officially. (since they were not competitive games).

I don't know of any non-friendlies he has played for Zimbabwe so anyone that has that information can feel free to correct me.

It's sort of sad in a way, he's 29 and yet really struggling at a level he was very good at at 23, 24, despite having had access to better coaching etc in the 5 years between the two.

But then he comes across as an arsehole, so my sympathy is pretty limited.
