    Small's finishing is improving.

He isn't hurrying so much and he's not blasting over or wide as much.

V Rovers his shots were low and mostly on target albeit straight at the keeper.

He's also going outside the full back and crossing with his wrong foot more which means the defence has to worry about which way he will go.
With the way he's playing as a very attacking wing back getting plenty of shots, I don't think we can be certain what his best position will turn out to be. I think he'd be comfortable anywhere down the right or left, but if he starts scoring regularly then it would be waste of that potential to play him as a more defensive full back or even move him back anywhere on the left.

He’s so much better than us and should be playing at higher level. I actually think he’s a better winger than he is a full back, but for a top team he would shine as an attacking wingback.

Some of the skills he pulls off are out of this world, I don’t remember having a player that so regularly beats players with outrageous flair.

Apparently a Coventry scout at the game yday and Small was at Everton the same time as Lampard. Not convinced the SMT would sanction a sale though

Seriously though, to be able to run at that pace, with the ball, doing tricks, and holding off defenders is pretty rare at any level. He’s a bit Adame Traore like in that sense. Similar Consistency of end product too, but signs it’s improving.

The only bit of transfer business (that needs doing) to make this a successful window. Waiting for that contract (extension) announcement....
  • He's a special player that's for sure. Still a raw talent in the same way Rak Sakyi was. Not as talented maybe, but you never know what he's edge of your seat good. The most important thing is, that whilst playing for Charlton, he is our player, not a loan.

Just seen he’s signed for a new agency…makes you think he’s probably wanting a better move than his previous agent was proposing.

    Which agency?
  • I thought he was off his game today but he never gave up.
It was one of those games I thought to myself he really needs to stay. If he played like that in the Championship he gets bombed to the reserves again at a new club.
Not what he needs right now.  We are a good fit. I hope he realises it.

Needs to sign to ‘take a moment and get your head up agency’ instead.

First touch agency would have improved him today

Yeah I hope so too but looking at most of the players who are part of the agency are players who maybe were at league clubs and now in the prem or top end of the championship.

I believe his agent is his step dad and that hopefully he will sign a new contract

I'm not expecting him to be here next season if we are still in League 1, otherwise, like Lloyd Jones, he would have signed by now.

I think Small is definitely going to become at least a Championship player but he needs to give his head a wobble and take a long hard look at his career so far. Apart from a couple of dozen (?) good games for Charlton all he’s shown is potential. He hasn’t done anything of note before us and it’s quite possible that a move up now and away from Charlton could in fact set his career back not forward. I hope he signs but reading the runes leads me to suspect he won’t. Silly boy if so.

I think he signs if we go up. He will be playing in the Championship next season either way.
  • I think eventually he will play regulary in the Champ but next season seems to soon - he's only just found form with us in League One and even now he makes mistakes and is caught out but quite poor league one players.
