Would never have guessed that. Bizarre choice of player for the song considering he left 8 years ago and was a different type of player to Aribo anyway...
  • He was good, but not as good as Aribo.
  • What a photograph... stick in the family OUR BUM!
  • The Fall - Athlete Cured

These are the real lyrics, "The German athletic star was continually ill". My misapprehension will be easy to guess.

Nope, not easy. not a scooby.
  • Always thought that Hendrix's 'Wind Cries Mary' contained the line 'the jets are in their boxes'.  Closer inspection reveals the jacks are in their boxes.  Shame really as it destroys my smart arse observance.

  • A friend of mine thought Bangles were singing:
    'Just another man named Monday'

When my sister and I were kids and this came on the radio we used to sing poppadom feet! 🙂
  • although I try to hide it, its clear, I wear goggles when you are not near

Yeh right.......when the song is actually called "Manic Monday"   or did they think the song was also called "man named Monday"

  • Nirvana - On A Plain

”Sir Ranulph Fiennes, who don’t make sense” - I used to wonder what they had against Ranulph Fiennes. To be honest I was mostly surprised that Cobain had even heard of him.

Turned out he was singing “to write off lines that don’t make sense” which is far less interesting but a lot more logical really.
  • My sister-in-law (as a teenager) for many months sang 'well I hurdled through the grapevine'

real lyric is of course 'well I heard it on the grapevine...'

It still hurts her 45 years later when mentioned.....!

  • The Specials - Long Shot Kick De Bucket. I always thought it was Long Shot Sticky Monkey. And frankly, my lyrics are better.
  • My wife found this account on Instagram in which the guy performs snips of songs with his misheard lyrics, complete with visual props…

Some of them are very good

Pet shop Boys. West End Girls.

I always thought the lyrics were ' in a West  End Town in Danwelt'
My girl friend thought it was 'in a West End Town the telling was'

We were both wrong of course.

Kaiser Chiefs I predict a riot. Sounded like ' I put it aside' to me for years even tho I know the title!
  • Few years ago during a supermarket visit, they were playing Constant Craving (K.D. Lang). My daughter asked me why she sang: Can't stand gravy ?

  • Groovin’ on a Sunday afternoon:

Misheard “you and me endlessly” as “you and me and Lesley”

I thought The Rascals were proposing some sort of ménage à trois. Saucy!
  • From My Girl by the Temptations

" sweetest song from the birds in latrines "

    Reading the other thread...

Who knows Seth. I mean, who would have thought it figures?"

I honestly thought that line in Ironic ended... "its the Earth".

Madonna……”I fell in love with some Dago “Isla Bonita”……it honestly sounds as if that’s what she’s singing.
Just realised I already posted similar earlier in the thread….Ooops.🫣

Ha, I just looked up what the line actually is. I’ve always sung ‘in the west end town of Denwild’ lol
  • My son when in junior school thought M People were singing you've got to search for the squirrel inside yourself!
  • A 70-year-old story:-
I had recently started infant school, and my new friend Trisha had come for tea.  We were out in the garden and she was singing at the top of her voice a well known {??!!!) hymn.
"Drown him, drown him all ye little children.  He is love, He is love" she carolled.
"Don't you mean 'Crown him'?" my mother enquired mildly.
"Oh no!" Trisha insisted, " And I know I'm right, 'cos I go to Sunday school"

Sunday school was at a Baptist Church, but somehow I don't think that full-immersion adult baptism was the source of the confusion!!

    Wasn’t that Richard Gere? 😉😆
