Potential good news for England - the Australia v South Africa game is delayed due to rain. Should that match be abandoned then two wins for us would guarantee our place in the semis. Were SA to beat Australia (and assuming Australia beat Afghanistan) then two wins for us might not be sufficient as the two places would then come down to NRR.

Match abandoned meaning that, should we beat Afghanistan tomorrow, Saturday's game against SA on Saturday will, effectively, be a quarter final
34-2 off 8 overs (both to Archer) but Wood has to leave the field with a knee injury. He is limping and the chances have to be that he won't be coming back so Livingstone and Root will now have to bowl 16 overs between them. That imbalance in the side looks like it is going to bite us in the backside.
To play both Archer and Wood who I like to see, but it's is ridiculous as yet again Mark Wood looks crooked as he hobbles off after bowling 4 overs after having treatment on the pitch after just a couple of balls of his last over. Great to see pace from Wood but when you constantly hit your knee on the pitch after falling how can he ever stay fit ?
Carse isn't fit with his big toe problem, Archer has been England's Chuks Aneke and Wood struggles to play two matches in a row.
39/3 after 10 Afghanistan, so good start in this match but ominous not only in this tournament but going forward with Stokes bowling days coming to an end despite the best medical team doing his numerous operations.
Atkinson and Mahmood will need to find their best form with the Red ball in 2025.
Would love to see Mahmood stay fit and contribute in all 3 formats. Think he's a real talent that like most of our fast bowlers has had awful luck with injuries.
Wood is back on but can't bowl for another eight minutes. He's desperately needed because these two batters are well and truly settled and Overton has just been carted for 16 in an over
Apart from the opening spells of Archer and Wood we have looked toothless. That is, hopefully, a reflection of the wicket and not our inability to get anything out of the surface.
Carse is out of Wednesday's match against Afghanistan on Wednesday and is likely to be replaced by Overton. We might get away with that against them but I really wouldn't fancy 20 overs plus being bowled between Overton, who is injury prone himself, Livingstone and Root against South Africa on Saturday.
I got that totally wrong. We haven't got away with this bowling attack today.
Starting a game with only 4 specialist bowlers and only another 2 that have any bowling experience is cavalier. It leaves no room to accommodate one having an off day. Archer is fragile and a constant risk, now we find out that Woody is injured, and cavalier becomes lunatic Jofra's early successes kept Afghanistan in check for a while but they're now cashing in bigtime to the buffet on offer 300 up with 330 the least England will have to chase Buttler's already acknowledged that his arse is grass when this tournament goes west. The problems are bigger and higher up than poor captaincy
It's not just the bowling though. There have been numerous instances of fielding indiscipline - Duckett's overthrow and then letting one through him for a boundary and Archer bottling an opportunity to take a catch to name just three.

We don't play him, as our tactics are all about a battery of fast bowlers. So when we lose a fast bowler to injury, we call up a spinner

Looks a batsman light but we look a bowler light as it is .
Wood is injured and Archer is getting smacked all over the place.

I saw wd had them 37/3 and at 20 overs they were going at 4 an over. I thought we'd be chasing 240 -260 at best. Not over 300 !!
We are done. Especially as we cant face spin.
