Surprised the final day of the season kick offs are at 3pm.

Yeah, you imagine there wont be any televised games as a result. Although League Two finished at 3pm on a Saturday last season, and think they still had games selected for coverage; the blackout can be very strange at times.

Pretty sure they can televise 3pm games last day of the season.

Also nice to see all three play off finals happening on the same weekend again. Didn’t like the last couple of years when the Championship final had it’s own weekend.

The anxiety for the next 13 games is already incredibly high this end.

The blackout doesn’t count when  non-league teams aren’t playing. Conference finishes the week before so they can show 3PM games.

I'm sure that at point the final L1 games were played on a Sunday, so that the 3 EFL leagues were at different times.
  • Any insurance bods on here going to BIBA conference bit of a clash
Stockport or Huddersfield away are easy from Manc though

Even more reason to get a second leg at home - midweek away would be rubbish.

Yep, reading would be ok though and a decent allocation.

    What is all this bollox?
Saturday midday and evening matches, and Thursday matches?
I used to scoff at Spain for their Saturday evening matches, and at the Europa league for playing on Thursdays.
Slaves to TV - whatever has happened to English football ? It should be that the league chooses the times, TV accepts it and that’s that.
I don’t even think that the TV audiences demand these times over the traditional times anyway.🤷

If we can't get 2nd then it would be ideal if we can get 3rd.

Means we'd play the away leg at a pretty dead time. Hard for any home crowd to get that 'up' for a 12.30 kick off. And then obviously the home leg is at night when the crowd would be rocking.

The playoffs, particularly the Championship playoff, have become a pretty big event, possibly the only time of the year that Premier League fans deign to watch a match from outside the top tier. No massive issue to me in them spreading this handful of games out so that they are mostly the main event taking place in that time slot in English football.

They have to do that because they show every play off game live and none of them clash.

Across the 3 divisions there's a play off every single day (with 2 on weekend days) from 8-17 May.

That’s not the point I’m making. The point is why is a 12.30pm kick-off considered more convenient than a 3pm kick off on a Saturday? Does everyone really want to watch while eating lunch and be desperate to rush out for the afternoon? I just don’t believe that’s true. If it is true that people want to be out, then don’t people go out on Saturday evenings anymore? And if you argue that yes, they watch it in the pub, why wouldn't they equally watch a 3pm kick-off in the pub? I think that TV makes huge and probably incorrect assumptions about their audience.
As for Thursday over Tuesday,  what difference can that possibly make?

Except when it suits them to, like the Burton game.
