Miles Leaburn - Signs New 3 Year Contract (p77)

Unfortunately I think Miles will be off at the end of the season regardless of where we end up. Someone like Brentford or Brighton will take a punt on him but for nowhere near the money being mentioned on here unless he goes on a goal scoring streak for the remainder of the season1

I think he's regressed a bit since his injury, I suspect it's more likely to be a Championship club taking a punt on him.
After all when Konsa left us, he went to a well run but middling Championship club (at the time) in Brentford, and Leaburn feels more like a Konsa, Doughty or a Karlan Grant than a Lookman or Gomez at the moment.4 -
Leaburn looked like he had a bit more pace prior to the injury. Unless he can demonstrate that he's still got an extra gear I don't see him going to a Premier League club1
-
I agree he looks like he's lost something, but it could also be not having a pre-season, paired with the workrate NJ's teams demand. I would have jelly legs after all that running. He's not had that much game time either, so he's always playing catch-up with his fitness.
I find him a bit strange at times because he's clearly got the technical ability to go past people and score lovely goals like the ones at Exeter, but at the same time, his first touch can be so erratic. If he sorts that out, he can go far. But he'll struggle to play Prem football with his current first touch.
2 -
He's not been on form since his purple patch he had a couple of months ago but that doesn't mean to say he's not still got that potential within him we're just not seeing it presently.
Lets see how he does with a good rest and a full pre-season behind him if he can stay injury free too. On present form he's probably at his level currently.2 -
I think everyone is creating a problem which isn't there. Miles is fine, yes the last couple of games he hasn't been at his best but he's rotating with Godden who also didn't look his best for a few games. Will he be a PL standard player? maybe, maybe not but we're L1 currently so that doesn't really matter right now. I hope next season he's a Championship player and it's with us6

I like Leaburn but I wouldn't call them stats impressive.
Now, if he was 5'6'' ......0 -

Most strikers on the list lose more than they win.5 -
Miles has returned from a long layoff after a major injury, he is young and I doubt up to full match fitness so give the lad time and understanding5

I'm not sure the absolute NUMBER of headers won is that meaningful an individual stat, as it's more a sign of how a team plays. We're more direct than some of the other, so the No 9 will have more headers than if he played for a tiki-taka team.
The win/loss ratio is a better indicator, it's just better than 50/50, which definitely puts him at the higher end, but behind real aerial beasts like Wootton, Palmer and Steven Fletcher.0 -

Miles' aerial duel success rate is 50.9% which puts him in the top 9% of all strikers in League One this season.
For perspective, Lloyd Jones (who we all say wins everything) has an aerial duel success rate of 69.2% which puts him in the top 27% of all defenders in League One this season.
By default, forwards are at a disadvantage in aerial battles. I think Miles is getting unfair criticism here.14 -

My concern with Miles this season, isn't his aerial ability, but that he seems to have lost some zip in his legs. A couple of seasons ago he was brisk enough to play as a right winger in a 433, and it was that which made him such a good prospect.

I am not worried and am sure his form will turn, but a couple of points on the above.
1) I feel like he wins his fair share of headers but I would love to see him develop the guile to aim them a bit more consistently. Feels like when Godden wins his headers it is with a bit more accuracy. I would love us to ask Yann to come and coach him a bit who was the absolute expert of guiding his headers.
2) At the moment, he just has the slight feel of Anthony Joshua after he upped his weight. years back. It gave him more power but dramatically reduced his speed and agility. Hopefully in the off season they can find a bit of a balance as I don't think he suits modelling himself on Chuks.5 -

Alex Fynn says that "pyramid" is not a good description for the English league structure any more. He prefers (as I recall the words "Tower block with huge penthouses at the top, supported by very shaky foundations below it"2 -
