Anyone recommend a Seafood restaurant that's not too expensive in SE London?

Around Blackheath ideally, but don't mind a 20 minute drive or so...

copied from my post in jan 2007 -

heard a good story last week. You remember our beloved Jorge Costa... well he ate in a local portugese restaurant every night that he was playing for us. He was here alone i seem to remember and lived in a hotel in Greenwich. Well each night that he visited that restaurant he ordered two chicken piri piri, one bottle of wine and two packs of fags. God bless him, no wonder he moved like The Tank.
  • I'm with Threadkiller, Dennys at Chislehurst station is recommended.

Elkie Brooks had her wedding reception(first marriage that is) in there when it used to be called Kates Bistro....sometime in the early 70's.
Not a lot of people know that!!!!!!!!
Going back to the restaurant it's now owned by some Portugese of course and I ate in there a year or so back and also quaffed a very nice bottle of Rose too if I remember rightly.......yes a nice place.

    Skate, cod, rock.
  • I saw a lad on skateboard eating chips last week - Skate and chips, I said. My wife hit me. How unfair is that?

I went into my local chippy the other night and asked for cod and chips twice. The bloke behind the counter said he'd heard me the first time......

I went back in there last night with a salmon under my arm.
"Do you make fish cakes?" I asked
    "Yes" said the bloke.
Pointing at my salmon I said "Make him one, it's his birthday".

Fed up with Fish and Chips I went for a curry tonight. I asked for a Chicken Tikka. The waiter suggested I try a Tarka instead. I asked what a Tarka was and he said it was similar to a Tika but a little 'otter!
  • The one in Lee is nice, cant remember what it is called. It is on the corner. Blue and white I think. Opposite the greek place
