Someone like Brentford or Brighton will take a punt on him but for nowhere near the money being mentioned on here unless he goes on a goal scoring streak for the remainder of the season
Brighton just bought a 19 year old Greek striker for 20m in January.
Alex Fynn says that "pyramid" is not a good description for the English league structure any more. He prefers (as I recall the words "Tower block with huge penthouses at the top, supported by very shaky foundations below it"0 -
The amount of stick our young players get yet you'd all be bitching if he were to jump ship at the first opportunity, Who'd blame him with the majority of you fickle fuckers!7

Kid who's been out for a year, played less then 100 games in total for the club, and is still 1 in 3, getting shit from odd people on a forum with ideas that he should be performing at the same level as someone in their mid late 20s, is just fucking weird19

What can happen is people look at a striker and think about duels with a centre half when a striker like Leaburn makes a fair number of defensive headers which count and so they should. It irritated me that Stockley didn't get the credit from some he should have for his defensive importance.0

Elthamaddick said:agree with comments above, he needs to develop an aggressive/nasty streak.
he was totally bullied by Stockport and spent most of the game complaining to the ref, instead of that - give it back x10, he's big and strong enough but doesn't 'put himself about' anywhere near enough yet
I'm hoping that comes, he needs a Danny Hylton 'dark arts' courseI disagree with "aggressive/nasty" and "giving it back x10" as it runs the risk of him racking up the bookings and sendings off the way Chuks did a few years ago. There's a danger that the ref's will go into "pick on someone your own size" mode and penalise him more just because he's bigger than the centre back who's been trying to take his shirt off him all game. He just needs to be more assertive - standing his ground and using his physicality to his advantage. It's the difference between being Joe Gomez and Raheem Sterling, in terms of temperament, not goal-scoring prowess obviously7 -

The win/loss ratio is a better indicator, it's just better than 50/50, which definitely puts him at the higher end, but behind real aerial beasts like Wootton, Palmer and Steven Fletcher.
My concern with Miles this season, isn't his aerial ability, but that he seems to have lost some zip in his legs. A couple of seasons ago he was brisk enough to play as a right winger in a 433, and it was that which made him such a good prospect.
He definitely looks a tad slower than when he first came into the team and zip is a good way to describe it. Both Leaburn and Kanu were decent athletes and personally I'm disappointed that Daniel isn't making the bench as he is quick off the mark as he proved when he came on at the valley and did runs that only TC can replicate out of the forwards.
"Good touch for a big man" is still true for Miles but has anyone considered that going from 6ft 4in to 6ft 6in plus the 3 injuries may have added to young Miles not seeming to be as quick as when he was 18 ? He can still have a very good career and put the injuries behind him what ever his ceiling (needs to be high !)2 -

Generally, a defensive header is much easier than a forward header - always has been, always will be6

So the season he had 20 goals from 38 matches for CAFC in all competitions and he missed 6 weeks of the season, "he was utter dog turd" in your opinion.
Or in the 2017/18 and into the 18/19 for Exeter when he scored 36 goals in 66 apps with the most headed goals in 12 months in the EFL before getting a move to Preston in the Championship for a decent contract.
Jayden had his limitations obviously like so many big strikers in the lower divisions that don't have pace but his Career at CAFC never recovered from the Garner era when he wanted Stockley to play like Harry Kane and drop deep and lay the ball off before making runs into the box.
If you were watching you would've seen ball flying over his head and he showed his anger at the lack of quality.
At 31 he is still earning a decent living in football with Port Vale so not a bad life in my opinion for a Journeyman footballer who knew his limitations but some teams including CAFC tried to take away his main weapon which was his heading ability.

Didnt he havs a significant back injury before which he was decent and after which he was not?4
-
In December he won EFL Young Player of the Month (not just League One - the whole EFL):
A few games ago he did this:
Then, a 21 year old, who is only a few months into restarting his career after a year out injured, has a couple of slightly off games (one of which the ref allowed him to be virtually rugby tackled by the opposition defence everytime the ball went near him) and the usual mob are on here knocking him down. This place does my head in sometimes.18 -

May was playing even lower, in 9th tier from what I can tell, possibly the 10th.
Both are rightly seen as natural goalscorers, but they both may have struggled had they been thrown in at L1 level at 21. If Leaburn gets scoring again he could have scored double figures in the league by the end of the season.8 -
Stockley's final season with us was one of the most unimpressive bodies of work I've ever seen from a first-pick Charlton player. Bottom five of my time4

(and that was Stockley's 'good' season ffs)0

Criticising a poor performance is acceptable for all players, Miles Leaburn is not exempt from that, its a shame people cant have genuine discussions around the young lads ability, potential and weaknesses of his game without the "usual mob" taking it as some sort of personal insult.
Think I'll just stick the the match threads.4 - Sponsored links:

I did know that but I just wanted you to articulate the reason you thought Stockley was useless.
Saying "utter dog turd" about a professional footballer tells me more about you than Stockley.
My trouble is I want Charlton Life to be different from the cess pit social media sights where hatred festers and grows.
Unfortunately I'm old enough to have been at the Valley when the "Village idiots"* sang in unison "Peter Shaw's a wanker."
Shaw had come to Profession football late at 21 from Staines and was struggling big time but had the character to over come the chants of the sheep to play 105 games for CAFC and 143 games for Gillingham.
A lower league player who got paid for playing football.
I love the English Language and criticism is part and parcel of our daily life and Football forums will reflect the various opinions but can't we try to keep out of the gutter ?
I'm far from woke as some on CL will testify when my cage is rattled !

Welcome to Charlton Life, Violet Elizabeth Bott.
(Bonny Langford)
Arter, Watson and Gunter had good careers but not by the time they WALKED into CAFC.
The rest were very hit and miss; mainly the latter0 -

Am a massive fan of Miles's and we all want to see him thrive in a Charlton shirt and I am sure he will but,
This quote from Godden in the SLP shows why Miles perhaps isn't quite making the impact he is capable of. When he is playing, it is often instead of Godden and he hasn't got that poacher's instinct that Godden has, but equally, he's not the one attacking the ball when it goes in the box.
Feels slightly like the games are bypassing him a bit at the minute. He still has a big role to play though.2 -
I will put it out there, i genuinely believe this kid will play PL football consistently and will win a cap for England, that's how much i rate him.11
-
The good thing for Miles is for the first time in a Charlton shirt he is playing in a team that is winning and trying for promotion to the second tier. It must be a world apart from previous seasons. All of this is a learning curve, the pressure and expectation along with the journey back from injury.I'm think it is unfair to compare to Godden or May, they are at different stages in their careers and very different trajectories. If we can get promoted this year, I hope he can stay with us in the Championship and developed further. You can see from his last goal what a talent we have, he is still working towards the finished article, and I am sure we will see him improve further. He has already mentioned in interviews the support from more senior players such as Chuks, and I am sure with Godden and Hylton are also helping him develop. The more he adds to.his game the better. Position and guile will come with experience. He already knows how to score. The guy is still only 21.4
