Watson at the bottom seems a bit harsh...thought he had a really good game...especially as hasn't really played much for a while.

Watson was good but their number 18 got the better of him, or at least got his cross in, a couple of times

Also, I know I've promised not to carp about assists, and I'll even ignore that the low cross was cleared by one Wigan defender onto another Wigan defender before Godden smashed home...but it was Ramsay with the cross, not Small lol

45% possession for Wigan, I find that hard to believe 🤦‍♂️...(not you Lancs)

Can’t remember a time when all of our defence were regularly so well marked

He had a good game, they all did.
But who should have scored lower?

To be fair I thought Berry and Small were worse than Tennai.

I would have thought Jones would be below Gillesphey this match, seeing that Gillesphey had an assist plus a decent shot on target from the freekick, but it's small margins really.

Watson played for 91 minutes which is unusual for an outfield player in recent times when out for many months.
Not sure if everyone notices but the days when every cross has to be cut out at source has changed;  when you have strong CB's who are big and strong in the air you can be better off with the ball coming in and tall players like Jones and Gillesphey doing what they have excelled at. The quality of the cross is paramount and its obviously still dangerous but even Walker at City and TAA at Liverpool don't always stop crosses being whipped in.

The balls Dan Burns headed away (as well as the brilliant headed goal) when Liverpool went direct and high in the final ran into over a dozen as desperation took over for the Scallywags.

Watson is a reserve player and Nathan Jones said he was magnificent which may be hyperbole but he did a fine steady 7 out of 10 performance.

I don't think Watson is good defensively but he had a decent game on Saturday. Hopefully Josh returns for the Posh game though.

Berry did a lot of pressing which meant we got a lot of ball well up the pitch.

And it was his free kick that led to the 2nd goal.
