The Boys of Summer 2025 (MLB)

Well opening day is upon us today. Let's hope the Mets can go one better this time around with the addition of Soto and bringing Pete Alonso back.

  • It’s been lean times as a Mets fan for too long. Here’s hoping.
  • Last year was my first time fully watching virtually every game from May onwards. Not a bad year to start off with really! Perks of having 6 months sick leave then working from home!
  • I enjoy watching baseball but don’t really follow. Who is tipped this year? Did the Fenway tour on a work trip to Boston last month, fabulous sporting experience.

LA Dodgers are the favourites as everyone is still saying how Ohtani is the greatest, which isn't true. Then the Braves, Yankees and Mets are the next favourites.
  • I think the Mets have got Soto this season, which will be a big miss for the Yankees.
  • As long as my Diamondbacks win more than they lose and play some fun baseball I'll be happy

Hoping they have an opening 0-3 series.
  • There's a good programme on Netflix about the 04 Red Sox breaking the Bambino curse. They really do hate the Yankees!
  • Following the Red Sox and for the first time in a few years I have some excitement ahead of a season. Some big arrivals in Bregman and Crochet plus an unbelievable farm system with the first of the big three now up in Campbell. And Anthony and Mayer following close behind.

I can remember when opening day was always in Cincinnati.

Can subscribe to MLB TV on the MLB App to watch, but it's all in $. An all teams monthly is $35 and a yearly one is about $160.

Probably better than a pretty disappointing drama from sky Atlantic I watched the other day by billy Crystal called 61* about the breaking of Babe Ruth's record of 60 home runs in a season by Rodger Maris.
  • Half decent Spring training for the Giants. Not going to be there in the shake up I am afraid, still rebuilding. Of the favourites I wish the Mets well.

I went to Spring Training a couple weeks ago down in Phoenix. Was a great time. I'm a lifelong White Sox fan. They're going to be terrible. Some interesting young players though.

Should be an exciting season. There are a lot of good not great teams.

Some quick predictions that I'll probably look back on and regret come October:
    AL:
    East: BoSox
    Central: Guardians
    West: Rangers
    WC: Orioles, Royals, Mariners

    NL:
    East: Phills
    Central: Brewers
    West: Dodgers
    WC: DBacks, Mets, Reds

WS: Dodgers vs. Rangers, Dodgers winning

I know it's chalk, but I just think they're the best team with the best pitching and the best hitting that has now shown they know how to win Playoff games.
  • MLB tv is down.
  • Go Giants!

Yeah I was trying to watch games and multitask at work and fucking MLB TV wasn't working.
  • Cards beat the Twins in the opener.

Not expecting too much this year.
  • Go Giants!
    What a turn around!

  • Evil Dodgers cheating again, having two sneaky games when the rest of us were not looking...

  • Nice win to start the Astros season after a very slow start last year.
  • Probably going to be a long year for the Padres unless Bogaerts and Cronenworth rediscover old form.

Most excited to see Jackson Merrill this year. After an electric rookie season, he's come back this spring looking even leaner and sharper. Started with a 4RBI game. Be interesting to see how far this kid could go because right now he looks like an incredible CF for his age.
  • Go Giants!
    What a turn around!
Didn’t look too promising there for about 7 innings!

Oh great made for TV film that! I remember watching it when I was younger. Glad to hear it's still kicking around.
  • Well, looky who has the best record in baseball this morning... Can we stop the season now? Go Giants!
  • NL West and AL East should just agree to play the world series between themselves now tbh.
  • Giants win a series in NYC against the Yankees for the first time ever. Amazing stat. Jung Hoo Lee is on fire, hope he stays fit this season.

That’s a stat that makes you think that cannot be right

He looked like a fun player last season but got hurt so early. Nice to see him doing well. The NL West is brutal. I don't feel bad for the Rockies, because they're the Rockies and they make their own fate, but the idea that one of Giants, DBacks, Dodgers, or Giants might miss out on the playoffs is bonkers so early in the season.
