Charlton Athletic vs Huddersfield TownSaturday 29th March 2025 - 12:30pm Kick-Off (Live on SkySports+)Referee: Declan BourneIntroductionCharlton head back to the Valley this coming Saturday in search of re-igniting their identity after a disappointed yet some what typical result at London Road, a 3-0 defeat at Peterborough means we'll have to wait a while longer to win in that part of Cambridgeshire, with our hopes of finishing second taking a slight hit... We welcome Huddersfield Town to SE7 this weekend, looking to stamp our supremacy on the visitors... many more defeats at this stage really could be an ultimatum to our hopes of automatic promotion.
The OppositionName: Huddersfield Town (6th) - Caretaker Manager: Jon WorthingtonGround: John Smith's StadiumPrevious League Result: Huddersfield 5-1 CrawleyJoining Huddersfield in their trip to South East London are the Sky cameras, with the Addicks once again playing in an early kick-off meaning we have the opportunity to put pressure on those above us come 3pm - This will be the sixth time this campaign we've played at 12:30, with the Addicks winning all encounters at the Valley, and drawing twice on the road.
However Huddersfield will naturally be a different proposition... Their campaign in the eyes of their fans will be a disappointed, which culminated with Manager: Michael Duff being relieved of his duties a couple of weeks ago - Their hopes of an instant return to the Championship, looked very unlikely a few weeks ago, however a 5-1 win over Crawley two weeks ago, means that there may well be life left in this side, with Caretaker: Jon Worthington taking charge of this side for a second time.
Their poor run of form of late certainly hasn't been great at the John Smith Stadium, prior to their 5-1 win over Crawley they hadn't scored a goal at home in 2025, so they broke that duck in style!! - Away from home though and their problems havent been an issue, with the Terriers losing just twice on the road this calendar year, with nine wins in total... As strike pairings go, and our opponents this Saturday really shouldn't be where they are; Dion Charles signed from Bolton has yet to score for his new side (ominous given his record against the Addicks), whilst Joe Taylor (signed from Luton) took just three minutes to score upon his return from injury last time out.
It could well be another busy afternoon for our Defence
Charlton Team NewsInjuries seem to be rearing their ugly heads as we approach the most crucial time of the season, with Miles Leaburn, Daniel Kanu and Josh Edwards all unavailable for the trip to Peterborough last Saturday - Our two youngsters up front will remain absent against Huddersfield this Saturday, whilst there is the possible inclusion for Josh Edwards, who had some involvement in training this week.
It means that we could well see a starting line up, that will be similar to the one that faced Peterborough United, and whilst some may bemoan that fact, its equally worth remembering that we could have been 2-0 up ourselves on a better day - Its just further proof that fine margins will decide the outcome of these last eight games, and is why the first goal will once again be extremely important come Saturday afternoon. Its also important to remember... If anything can happen to us, it can happen to others too.

We've done it before and we'll do it again - we'll need to if we're serious about a play-off spot (with an outside hint of automatic promotion).
Addicks to win 2-0 and then move onto a bit of Stag-hunting in midweek.
Again!

Nervous times but nothing a victory or 8 maybe 11 on the spin won’t sort out!
We could and should have made more of our openings with our perenniel lack of composure and technique affecting our shooting boots again.
More worrying was our susceptibility to the fast direct counter, exposing our normally solid defence.
This one is going to be all about character.
We need to guts out a win.
I'm hoping last weekend was a blip and not a sign of us running out of steam at the wrong time.
COYR.

Draw.
Josh Edwards absence has shown how important he is to the team, so I am really hoping he is fit to play - that would be a huge boost. With Josh back I can see us scraping the much needed win. Without him in the starting 11, I will take a draw.
