Depending on how bad the injury actually is, whether we are in league one or the championship next year, who we sign etc, we might have seen the last of Miles playing for Charlton, unfortunately. If he is out until December, we are in the championship, I am not sure how much Jones will look to play a young forward coming off his 3rd major injury. If we are in league one and he is back early fall, he could still play a role. Given he hasn’t signed yet, I have a strange feeling, he may be considering a fresh start somewhere else
With his recent injury record I can’t see anyone paying money for Leaburn this summer. His best bet will now be to sign the new contract and make sure there’s an escape clause or two in there should he recapture his peak form or if we don’t get promoted.
Every injury is lowering his transfer fee, but also what other clubs are prepared to pay him in terms of wages. I can see them waiting until January to see if he is over these problems and has had a decent run of games.
And if they’re abroad can start negotiating a free transfer. Think he ends up in Germany or Scotland on a free with minimal compensation
I’m sure he will sign a contract now as I really can’t see a half decent move for him with this latest injury unfortunately. It was always a case of him needing to come back from the last one and proving he isn’t prone to more sadly this hasn’t happened
Frustrating and disappointing for Miles. Just pray Godden stays fit otherwise we will struggle up top. Even if Kanu does get fit I am not confident he will be the answer in some potentially big games.

I'll reiterate what I've said for the past 2 weeks. If Godden gets injured we are done. Cooked. Kaput.

You could say that of any top six team losing a first team striker for the rest of the season. I doubt any of the others have better options themselves. I would be more concerned if we lost Campbell or Small.

That’s not a hugely unique position is it? Most teams would be in trouble if their star striker was injured. 1998 without Clive Mendonca would be a very different story.

There were a couple of games without Taylor in 18/19 - Mark Marshall definitely started up front in one home game- and we looked absolutely insipid, despite that high end midfield . Vetokele and Parker were still better than Ahadme though .

Im Not. Any Premier/Championship team could sign him, for not a lot of money with the change down the back of the sofa. If it doesn't work no biggy. I guess it just means he won't get as much wonga personally.
If we still are in Div1, unsure if we should commit a large proportion of our wage budget on a player with injury issues- as we have done this year with Chuks- and who still isn't the finished article and main threat in the team.
Miles has still got time and this injury may have something to do with him coming back with no pre-season under his belt and his body still developing. In terms of his injury record, I don't think he had too many problems until the thug at Welling decided to launch himself at him and since then he's had a serious operation and now this. It might have come at a good time for him if not for the club as he could get a proper pre-season under his belt. As for Golfie's comment, well maybe, lets not forget that Ahadme's form or lack of was in our worst period this season, did he suffer like a lot of other players? I think Pele would have struggled to score the way we were playing, we are now creating chances so perhaps if Ahadme is used he may make a better fist of it.
Surprised people are not making more of this. Think it puts a bit of a dent in our charge. There will be games between now and the end of the season where a real need for a change of tact will be required at some point. Miles offered that change. Wishing him a speedy recovery.

I’m guessing people are less concerned about the impact on our season as Miles has only been a bit part player (at best) over the last couple of months. I’d much prefer he was available, but of all the players to be ruled out it should be of limited impact.
I don't see any PL clubs being interested in a player who's clearly lost a yard (temporarily or not) after his first injury. Likewise I doubt many championship sides can afford to take a long term and expensive punt on an injured/injury prone player either. His best chance of getting a life changing move is probably to run down his contract which might encourage someone to take a chance as the lack of transfer fee alters the risk/reward equation. Clearly not great for Charlton either financially or from a footballing perspective as a player with that mindset isn't likely to be giving 100% for understandable reasons.

We are one Godden injury away from being absolutely fucked

To be honest, following his very good run around Christmas I don't think Miles has looked up to much in terms of impact. He's young and he's still recovering from a long layoff so he was always going to tire before the other players, but his role recently has mostly been used as a means of resting Godden, either towards the end of a game or in miserable away games where his job is to get battered and keep Godden fresh. Looking at our schedule I'd imagine it's only really the Northampton and possibly the Cambridge game he would start given that the schedule gets quite tight around Easter. We haven't seen anything of Ahadme since we started actually playing well but I don't think he'd really offer that much less than Leaburn did against Stockport and Crawley where his job was just to be big and get his shirt pulled. If we need to bring a sub on to change things then that's what Chuks is for

Other teams' potential injuries are of no concern to me, but if Godden - and I'd include Jones in this scenario - were to miss the Play-Offs, I would be hugely concerned to Nathan's nails levels.
Godden has been great. But can he last 90+ minutes every game until the end of the season, including possibly the play offs? I can't see it ! Chuks has lost any pace, and he was never the fastest, hence he either has to foul, or get called offside, for trying to get the better of his defender.
Kanu would be handy, but he's out as well.
We need Ahadme to step up. Time to start giving him some minutes, as we are very short of options.
I think Chuks' decline has been overstated. He's still effective off the bench though it seems to take him more games to get up to speed after injury than it used to.
I didn't see us play Peterborough but I was at the Huddersfield game and watched the Mansfield stream as well. To me he looked an effective sub when he came on.

Why create our own issue over the chances we may have one in future. Ahadme is simply not good enough.

With his injury record, running his contract down would be a high stakes move for him though.
