Kent Cricket 2025

  • You'd have thought the lovely weather would have led to flatter pitches and more runs than usually scored in April.

    Apparently not.
  • Four slips and Crawley not one of them seems somewhat unusual.
  • Evison becomes our fifth wicket taker

    102-6
  • Another to Jas

    113-7
  • The decision to leave out Parkinson was justified...

Northants 118-7 at close and still 114 behind. Kent's day.
  • Pleased to see a decent performance from the bowlers in response to the poor form of the batsmen. Let's hope the bowlers can finish the job in the morning by removing the tail which Kent often cannot do historically.
  • Think jumping the gun here as the last five wickets usually put on about 350 runs against us

  • 45-0
  • 143 all out. That'll do.

4 wickets for Jas Singh is a promising start to the season.
and Crawley has made double figures!
  • 60-0 at lunch
  • Well done Jas! I think that's his best first class figures to date.

OneLung with the old reverse psychology
  • 66-0 to 69-3. Crawley out for 31 followed by ducks for DBD and Muyeye.
  • Collapsed to 76-4.
  • Compton gone too. Currently 80-4. Lead of 168
  • 66-0 to 69-3. Crawley out for 31 followed by ducks for DBD and Muyeye.
I really want to back Crawley but he makes it hard .  Looks a million dollars and always finds a way to get out

I've always felt that he is a "see ball/hit ball" player but without the technique to match. One who is capable of playing an exquisite cover drive on a good track but vulnerable on slow surfaces especially when the ball is doing something. He will get that double ton once a season but that doesn't make up for all the other failures.

In fact, a FC career average of 31.65 wouldn't get him an opening berth at county level let alone for England in any other era but Kent will persevere with him because they have no other options and won't want to lose him to another county. As we've seen, though, with Bashir, some counties don't follow the ECB line.
  • 104-5 Leaning out now. Leading by 192.
  • 144-7 Evison and Dudgeon in.
  • Kent all out 171 Northants require 260 to win. Evison got 52 only decent score really.
  • Still playing but Northants are 100-6 with 4 for Dudgeon and 2 for Stewart
  • Northants finished 4th last season but only won two of their 14 matches!
  • Dudgeon is built like a brick outhouse!
  • Never mind 4 day cricket, this game will barely reach day 3.

Indeed. Somerset scored 637-6 whereas the two teams in our match have so far managed 10 runs more for the loss of 36 wickets!!!
  • Broad becomes the third Northants batter to shoulder arms - one to Gilchrist

Northants 107-7 at close and still trail by 152 runs
