  • As I said yesterday let's hope we can quickly wrap up the last 3 wickets and thereby win this.
  • Come on, lads.

A win would be a great way to start our season.

Onwards & upwards with our very own Surrey Spitfire !
  • Dudgeon bounces out Leech to give the debutant his fifth wicket in the innings

    112-8

    6th for Dudgeon

114 all out. Kent win by 146 runs

    Dudgeon 7-36
  • Very impressive start by Dudgeon, especially has he doesn't appear to have played outside of S Africa before.
  • All over !
  • Lovely win first up.
  • All of a sudden our bowling unit looks OK. With the likes of Kashif Ali, Cohen, Quinn, Agar, Garrett and Parkinson all to play their part, hopefully we will this season consistently bowl teams out thus negating the need for big scores from our batters.
  • Top of the league!!!!

  • Clearly a very seam friendly pitch, so bowling will be harder in future matches, but hopefully batting easier as well.
  • Batting performance in the first innings doesn’t look so bad now

It wasn't a minefield but you did have to apply yourself - in all four innings someone managed to reach 50 but, as in all such situations, you do need to bat in pairs. Muyeye and Leaning put on 104 in our first innings and the next best partnership for us in the match was Compton and Crawley (66). There wasn't a single other partnership of 50 in the match from either side.
  • Kent showing some bouncebackability. Good start to the season.

It’s one win against a poor side on a sporting wicket .  Let’s see - I hope you are right .
  • Great to win. 19 points I think given no batting points at all.

How good to see a quickie that can remove 9, 10 and Jack for 1,0 and 0. A novelty for Kent fans. Stay fit Dudgeon and don't become the cricketing Chuks like so many of our decent quickies have been at times.

Like Kashif Ali, he's only here for April and May and then Wes Agar arrives. Whether that can financially or other commitment wise be extended I don't know as Rogers is only here for the Blast.

A 2nd XI somewhat lacking balance were 254 all out against Notts today.

Both openers Ekansh Singh and Ben Dawkins were out for a duck but then followed fifties from Jaydn (65) and Benjamin (54). Corey Flintoff (9) doesn't look a number 5 any more than Parkinson is a 6 (3 off 43). Young all rounder Oliver Curtiss (3) and triallist, Sebastian Allison (1), a seamer, came and went but then Garrett (43*), Kashif Ali (54) and another triallist seamer, Pip Jackson (19), took the score from 141-8 to 254 all out.

No lack of bowling options though - seven seamers and two spinners plus two keepers just in case they want to switch to allow each other to have a bowl.

  • Oh dear! Garrett came on first change and had to stop bowling after one ball.
  • Perhaps we do need all those bowlers after all. A stand broken with the score on 130 by Parkinson.

    131-1 at close
  • M mian bowling, anyone know of him?

Another triallist and our tenth bowling option - Mudasir Mian via the ACE programme but played previously club cricket for Old Whitgiftians. He has taken two quick wickets this morning in what turned out to be quite a long and eventful over:

    dot
    NB
    NB
    1
    Wicket
    dot
    dot
    NB
    Wicket
  • Mian then followed that up with three overs, no NBs and just a single.
  • Oh dear! Garrett came on first change and had to stop bowling after one ball.
And hasn't bowled this morning. As soon as we sign bowlers they turn into Chuks Aneke.
  • Kashif Ali takes a wicket. Ekansh becomes bowler number nine to be utilised which leaves just the two keepers, Benjamin and Dawkins, plus Curtiss as the only members of the 12 not to turn their arm over. The chances are that Curtiss might still be recovering from the injury he sustained last season.
