  • Just got bodied by the Celtic winger there, looks like he's tiring a bit towards the end of the game, it's been near constant Celtic Attack Vs St. Johnstone defence to be honest

In terms of the value of this loan. Zach is playing this game, getting this experience, and won’t be playing for the U21’s away at Fleetwood next Tuesday.
Anybody watching and not enjoying this, probably doesn’t like football that much.
Has anyone said this or disagreed with the value of the loan?
  • Bottom and beating the champions. You could have got 29/1 at one point on them doing that!
  • What a result that is!
  • Get him back! Played very well against Celtic.
    Glad we haven’t sold him.
Btw Lucas Ness out for the season at Notts County with a hamstring tear.
  • Part of a defence that kept a clean sheet v the Champions elect.

    Well done Zak.

    Yes about 10 posts up

Twenty year old Zach Mitchell has just been part of a team that has kept a clean sheet, and won, against the mighty Celtic.
    He played really well.
If that isn’t good reading for Charlton fans then what is?
Why have your posts on the matter been unnecessarily antagonistic? No-one's disagreeing, and yet you're still banging that drum

To be fair to @seth plum, yes.
@wmcf123 on the previous page was saying it was stupid letting him go and he’d be in our first team now if we’d kept him.

  • Left field I know, but would the loan out for Zach come to end before the play off tournaments?
  • I can see Rogers and Celtic making a cheeky bid following that performance. The answer should be a resounding "no" unless "cheeky" extends to £10m plus!
  • There will be a fair bit of interest in him in the summer. Let’s hope we can keep him. What a prospect he is.

No, as you can only move during a transfer window. He'll have to watch us lift the trophy from the Directors Box  ;)

I thought he made a few agricultural clearances, even when he had time to bring it under control. Whether that was nerves after his early mistake or instructions from the manager given they were playing top of the table, who knows.

A couple of excellent blocks and I liked the way he attacked players on the edge of the box lining up a shot.  Hope he is a starter next season allowing Ramsay to play further forward and Small, if signed to play on his natural side.
  • If we still are league one next season Mitchell will be a starter ..

You ask a question about something that hasn’t happened.
    I can’t answer you I’m afraid.
  • One attribute Mitchell has is being able to carry the ball forward and find a team mate with a decent pass. Something we didn’t see today.

  • Been out with family all day & just watched the entire match that we'd recorded .

Very impressed ( as always) with his composure especially under constant  pressure from the Celtic lads.

OK, a couple of errors but name me a defender that comes out of difficult match, 100% "spotless" ?

20 years of age & growing stronger every time he sets foot on the pitch.

Really proud to watch a young player at this level who came through our brilliant Academy & who will reach greater heights in the not too distant future.

Bless his cotton ( tartan) socks.
    Lloyd Jones 😛

Still out of contract in June. Madness if he goes.
Another post as marvellously confident as it is utterly incorrect.
Apologies, I dont read every post or even thread. It was an opinion of concern, not confidence.

I have a life beyond this site.

Perhaps you could have a word with Smithy who didn't update the Zach subject title with the latest news.

You should read the small print before joining as that is not allowed ⛔
  • I did wonder about this Loan going to a struggling Scottish team after his time at Colchester who were struggling in League 2 but plenty of game time culminated in being part of a clean sheet against Celtic.
Hopefully Zak is one of the CB's along with Ramsey, Jones and Gillesphey in a perm 3 from 4 scenario.

Ramsay, who goes back to Right Wing-Back in place of Small

Ramsay’s a lot more defensive minded than Small, that could upset the balance of the team.

It also assumes Small will go and Ramsay is still here.

Going to be interesting to see how it all plays out.

It's fairly clear from the quantum leap from being also ran's to looking good for the Play-offs was because of strong partnerships between Ramsey and Small, Edwards and TC and once Jones came back with the much improved Gillesphey who even without Lloyd was immense in both defence and attack on Saturday despite having two rusty CB alongside him in McIntyre at first then Mitchell. These partnerships helped others step up their levels including Godden who looks sharper in and around the box as we got into '25'.

Kayne as the RCB has worked so well and with Thierry, who was more of a right winger in the 1st half against Lincoln despite being marked by at least two players.
I was amazed by Small's skill levels at going past defenders and if he ever finds his scoring boots he will have some career and I would hope stay at cafc beyond this summer but if we are not in the Championship...
  • If we still are league one next season Mitchell will be a starter ..
I imagine his presence might affect any decision on Watson.

I didn't see the game but from reading through the comments during the match it seems like he made two big errors that almost led to Celtic goals and he had his keeper to thank for bailing him out.
