Brendan Wiredu to save people the clicks...

I would imagine this will depend on which League we are in. Which is the annoying thing about being in the play offs, it must be difficult to set up deals with potential championship players until your place is confirmed and then you are almost a month behind every one else.ForeverAddickted said:Brendan Wiredu to save people the clicks...

If we should find ourselves in The Championship next season then I’m rather hoping that we’re looking at players not currently plying their trade in league 2. That’s no disrespect to Brendan who I’m sure would make the step up to league one, but to The Championship ? Particularly as the article suggests it might take a substantial fee.2

That’s where good scouting, analytics and assessment of the players fitness and character comes into it.ShootersHillGuru said:If we should find ourselves in The Championship next season then I’m rather hoping that we’re looking at players not currently plying their trade in league 2. Josh Edwards came from the Scottish 2nd tier and we paid around £50-100k depending on who you believe. CBT wasn’t a regular starter in L2. We’ve lost count of bigger names who played at a higher level than those two and cost more but failed.6 -
Kayne Ramsay came from Harrogate Town. No idea what he was doing there. But I’d love to have more players like him if we can uncover them.32

Streamlined squad = no meaningful signings I fear.More about who stays.1

Given that Tennai Watson, Chuks Aneke and Thierry Small are all out of contract and Gilbert and McIntyre are only here on loan I'd suggest that we will see at least 4 signings and that's before you get to upgrading on those still in contract (particularly keepers)valleynick66 said:Streamlined squad = no meaningful signings I fear.More about who stays.3 -
Would happily see Brendan back, think he would suit Nathan Jones, just a gut feeling.
Can play a lot of roles, lots of experience and still got a lot of upside potential. Helps he won't feel out of place here as it's his home city. Also helps that we play a back 5 which is tailor made for him from what I've seen of him, also offers cover in the middle, great utility player.
I don't imagine we are going to be splashing the cash, irrespective of which league, so Brendan would be a nice little pick up.8 -
Heard third hand that we already have four players lined up.
No names, no positions, no idea if this depends on what division we are in.32 -
There will be a number of signings this summer… that will be starters, add to the quality of the squad we have... Aneke will govalleynick66 said:Streamlined squad = no meaningful signings I fear.More about who stays.

Hopefully none of the hands had the initials JA or CS.Henry Irving said:Heard third hand that we already have four players lined up.

"Charlton Athletic are excited to announce the super duper 4 man contract extensions of Tennai Watson, Chuks Aneke, Danny Hylton, and Gassan Ahadme. Gassan has signed an extended 5 year contract to ensure the striker can hit his target of 10 goals across his Charlton career"Henry Irving said:Heard third hand that we already have four players lined up.

You mean the player from our Academy that we let go.ForeverAddickted said:Brendan Wiredu to save people the clicks...
.
I think Sandgaard & Methven's approach to the Academy needs some tweaking if they think signing players we've previously let go is a masterstroke 🙄🤭.

Worth looking on the Wiredu thread to see why he left, not sure we let him go and more that he chose to leave due to how he was treated by a (now departed) member of staff. He's still a good player who is probably capable of doing well in L1, doesn't really matter what academy he came throughgolfaddick said:

Wasn't Basey the kit man at the time? How does a kit man fall out with a player so badly that they both leave the club?0
-
Nope, he left us in 2021 and Basey became a coach in 2019SantaClaus said:Wasn't Basey the kit man at the time? How does a kit man fall out with a player so badly that they both leave the club?2 -
Promoted to first team development coach in September 2019, Wiredu joined Colchester on loan that month and returned to us in January. A year later he joined them permanently.SantaClaus said:Wasn't Basey the kit man at the time? How does a kit man fall out with a player so badly that they both leave the club?1 -
I'd be very surprised if Wiredu came back based on the nature of his departure. Though the club is very different to when he left so never say never.0
-
Wasn't he supposedly seen at the training ground in January?
Really liked him when playing for the academy. Totally different to any other player I've seen the academy produce. In the opposition ear, intimidating and very aggressive. A complete one off.2 -
We have Zach Mitchell, we don’t need Wiredu1

If Mullins signs, I don’t think we need VVD.killerandflash said:
