no idea who they are but the source is very credible.
All irrelevant though until we know which division we are going to be in
Depends, hopefully now we are on an upward curve we should be after players that can make the grade in the division above, either next season or after they help get us promoted.

Not necessarily irrelevant. If we believe they are Championship quality players and if they are happy to join us whilst we may still be in League One in the belief that we will get promoted next season then not irrelevant. We may even have agreed varying wage structures dependant on what league we are in. Who knows and I’m only suggesting that could be case although I’m probably well off the mark.
Completely different players and cover different positions, like saying we don't need TC because we have Ramsay
Wiredu has been playing as a centre back for years. He can also play in midfield but that’s not his main position anymore. That is also exactly how I’d describe Mitchell, a centre back than can also play in midfield. So Wiredu is definitely not a completely different player that covers different positions. We don’t need Wiredu as it would potentially block Mitchell’s pathway
It’s most likely irrelevant anyway, this link is probably some lazy journalism thinking a good league 2 player will probably get a league 1 move, so let’s just link his former club

Zach has played every senior game in his career in defence, Brendan has for 45% of his career. Yes they both currently play centre back but they're very different players, and besides why only have one when you can potentially have both?
And blocking pathways makes no sense, that means we shouldn't have signed Jones to a longer contract or signed the other Mitchell at all and just played Zach
I think we really need to be thoughtful about Zach’s progression. He has done well in the Scottish premier league against sides that are the equivalent of league one or two quality. However against Celtic, he struggled.. If we are in League one, he should absolutely be in the mix. If we are in the championship, another loan might be the best for his development

I actually thought he did really well. He’s playing in a team that are bottom of the table and would have expected a rearguard performance against the Champions-Elect. Stood up well as they defended for their lives and got a win. It wasn’t pretty at times, but it’s the sort of game that will have done him the world of good.

Not really that’s just a silly point, Zach wasn’t ready at the start of this season so we needed to sign Mitchell, Jones is our best player so of course you sign him on. Zach’s pathway now is probably to be backup to Ramsay and Jones roles and step in when required.
You say they are different players but if we signed Wiredu now he would be most likely playing the position Ramsay is, which is also exactly where Mitchell fits in best. If he isn’t already, Mitchell is going to be a lot better than Wiredu is, I’d much rather have Mitchell as the backup to that position than Wiredu and then we can develop him into that much better player, rather than sign Wiredu and Mitchell either sits out or is sent on loan again
I know people like him because he’s from the academy but we should be aiming for better than Wiredu. If the club really wanted to sign him then we’d have done something about it when he was about to join Wigan 2 months ago, but we didn’t. The link is lazy journalism or agent talk most likely

Chances are that we will be selling a player or two for a fee. It's the nature of the game at this level. Ramsay, TC and Coventry are probably players that other Clubs have their eye on.
Assuming we can find the money, if there is one player we should really target, even more so should we go up, it is Davis Keillor-Dunn. He's five years younger than Luke Berry and would mean that we would have a more effective creator and scorer of goals starting with a viable replacement in Berry from the bench. The "rumour" part is that Barnsley have slapped a £3m price tag on him but that is cheap for a player of his talent playing in the Championship.

He was often talked about on another Charlton forum, but apparently the club felt he wasn’t strong enough.
It’s not as if Berry can be described as strong, but maybe they meant the way he presses etc.
If they want anything like £3m I can’t see us paying that sort of money, even if we go up and sell a player or two for a big fee.
I suspect this comment will be disliked and I can understand why. This time last year I thought that Miles was easily our biggest financial asset but I now think that he has been surpassed by Tyreece. I can’t believe that the sharks won’t be circling whatever division we find ourselves in next season. I think what he’s shown this season easily puts him in the £5 - 7 million bracket and possibly more. I genuinely hope we can hold onto our prize assets and in truth am resigned to losing Small but I’ll be even more gutted to lose TC.

The smart play (we seem to make more of those these days) is to hold on to TC. He’s started scoring a few more but his value will fly up if he can do that consistently. Keep him this summer and see if he can score regularly next season

I suppose it depends what money he's on.
