Looking forward to this descending into the ‘ex players that could still do a job for us’ thread

Or how the players we need to release this summer can still do a job and should be backup players for next year.

One we definitely need to get done is Thierry Small, he is one we need to pull out all the stops to get finalised pdq...🤷‍♂️
won't know till season is over and he knows what division we are in and if L1 then if any offers come in from Championship. I f we get promoted then we have a chance of keeping him, but again it depends on offers. he holds all the cards!

What happens when we run out of ex Charlton  and ex Luton players? Do we have any sort of Plan B?

I don’t know what position he plays but The Defamation of Strickland Banks was a cracking album.

Can also add Coventry, Docherty and Mannion (who was never meant to be no1) to the positives column and Dixon looks like he has potential

If we sold Small for a reasonable fee and kept TC, I’d be delighted with that.

I’m willing to put my head on the line and say it’s probably bullshit anyway because only TC’s performances are going to attract interest imo. Both Small and Leaburn are currently our CL overrated youngsters.

Sadly I can see some silly OTT bids coming in for TC from Championship and possibly Prem clubs, and will be very hard to hold onto...we can only hope I am wrong 🤷‍♂️

Well Small is out of contract so we’d do very well to sell him

Nature of our position unfortunately, if a OTT bid comes in be silly not to accept it. Just depends whether the money is reinvested correctly

Selling players for top prices, then bringing in cheaper replacement that become just as good, is how you stay successful. This though relies on excellent scouting and contract management.

In 20/21, Brentford had an excellent front 3 in the Championship, the BMW of Benrahma, Mbeumo and Watkins.

Having just missed promotion, in the summer of 2021 they lost Benrahma to West Ham for £22m and Watkins to Villa for £28m. They then spent £5m, rising to £10m on Ivan Toney who scored 32 league goal as they got promoted.

SLP Pod discussed the Small to Milwall link, don't really add too much at all really except to say they can see why Millwall are interested

Chances are that we will be selling a player or two for a fee. It's the nature of the game at this level. Ramsay, TC and Coventry are probably players that other Clubs have their eye on.
No chance unless you get a ridiculous offer like 4 mill plus for anyone .we are looking to add quality in one of two areas

Watson, Chuks and Aaron Henry could all do a job as back up whatever league we’re in so we should offer them 1 year deals.

A few mentioned four players are lined up. Hopefully they are Dillon Phillips, Dijksteel, Wiredu and CBT as they know the club and there can’t be much else out there.
Really have none of them back especially CBT lets look forward not keep looking in the past

Out of all the players I mentioned CBT was the one that stood out to you? And you’d like to keep Aaron Henry if we get promoted?

Had a dream last night that the 4 new signings were revealed, Trent Alexander-Arnold was the first one. The only down side was that we were still in League One!

More likely to be Brent Alexander-Arnold.

With the savings from getting rid of Methven and Scott, we can pay Trent's wages for at least 2 weeks  :D
