I preferred the “comfortable 4-0 home/away win” predictions on the match previews if we’re going for optimism…

The existence of this thread on Charlton Life isn’t going to make a blind bit of difference to what actually happens, obviously. But it still makes me uneasy that it’s up at all!

Maybe take the season out of the title and it’ll feel a bit better… then it could be countdown to an unspecified promotion at an unspecified date. :-)

If it's not going to make a blind bit of difference,  why does it make you feel uneasy?!

I'm sorry,  I just find this weird.

What it could do is provide a great timeline to a fantastic season.

What it could do is make you, and by association other Charlton fans / people on Charlton life, look like a complete and utter twat(s) if we are in 13th place in 6 weeks time having been thumped 0-4 at home to Birmingham/alfie may.

Ok. Bored of this now. Stay off the thread.
By all accounts, if we get promoted I'm the only one who can celebrate it.

It’s a bit of fun, don’t take things too seriously guys.

If anyone closes it Uppers, raise the stakes and immediately start a ****Countdown to Promotion to the Premier league 2025/26**** thread 👍

he who laughs after 2 weeks of the season… looks like a tit in front of the whole world on the next season of Wrexham til I die

I too think it's arrogant. To argue it isn't means you don't know the word's definition.

Edit: Another word to look up: Embarrassing.

There's never been a thread in CL history I would want sunk more. For this reason I won't post on this thread again.

  • We’re 10% of the way towards being Champions of League one, only another 90% to go!

Here's the deal. As to not tempt fate any further, nobody posts in this thread until the season is over. That way, we can't jinx it, and we also can't scare off a potential promotion by raising black sails and deleting the thread. We just let it lay dormant in the hopes of an 'I told you so' from up_the_valley.

Well it's the 15th of April, and while @up_the_valley hasn't been proved right just yet, the positivity hasn't proved entirely unwarranted, so as promised I've re-opened the thread and given him a promote. At present, we're guaranteed at least the play-offs if we win on Friday, and automatic promotion is still technically possible, if admittedly unlikely. Birmingham are already promoted as Champions, Wrexham and Wycombe are guaranteed at least the play-offs, and if my sums are right it's technically possible for any of the teams as far down as Lincoln to sneak through, although it'd require a weird combination of results for that to happen I think.

Didn't see this thread first time round in August but now its rather apt.

Although I dont like to think of promotion at this stage at least we have the play offs to look forward to this season.

Every post on this thread decreases our chances of promotion by 5%.

    Including this one.

Sorry everyone, but as I opened this thread to read, I spilled a little bit of my coffee. I thought the fact that it scolded my leg  would have offset that bit of bad luck, as I’d obviously experienced a double bit of bad luck, which as a double negative obviously means there will be some associated good luck to follow. But then I bloody dropped my phone too and I just think this thread combined with my triple bad luck means the thread needs to be closed again if we are going to have the slightest chance of being promoted. Apologies again especially to the coach and players.
  • I’ll stick with odds of one in four of going up. It still a lot better than we thought before Christmas.

I think, whatever you have on your hands 🫣 needs to be washed off before handling such fragile things.

Washing hands might jinx the team

Are we still up for this... ? Show some passion, some positivity, and enjoy whilst it lasts.  All this bad luck bullshit is ridiculous and causes arguments between the fan base.

If i text someone saying well get promoted, would that mean we won't........ or is it just here on CL that the jinx exists?

No optimism or fun allowed for Charlton fans it seems

It's really quite simple - we win our final three matches and Wycombe draw both or lose one and Wrexham draw just one of their respective other two games and we're promoted!!!!
