Red looks harsh but Chuks is still a twat for giving the ref a decision to make.
The other camera angle shows Leary grabbing onto Chuks shirt in the build up and Chuks grabs his wrists to pull him off, in this clip we can see Chuks then backs off goes to turn inside and their bloke charges straight at him, he turns more than I thought but then I'd turn my shoulder across my body in that position rather than get clattered too.

Difference of opinions sure, maybe some confirmation bias each way too.

Either way should have been a yellow at most for both of them for grappling off the ball and should never have been allowed to run onto the point that a collision occurred.

Sky showed a better angle than the one in that Twitter video that was straight on and you can see Chuks lean his shoulder forward into the bloke as he runs into him. It's definitely deliberate provocation from the Wycombe player but it worked because Chuks was very provoked and clattered him
Blocked his body from being clattered into IMO. Basically aligned himself to take the hit rather than being flattened/bounced off head on.

The problem Chuks has is that every opposition player feels they have to go twice as hard to compete with him. Conversely, he’s only allowed to go half as hard as he’s able. Either way, he looks the bully and the officials feed into it.

    Save you the trouble!

Pretty sure I’ve seen that he lives in North London so was probably never getting on the bus anyway

Surely an appeal has no jeopardy?
Well he is out of contract at the end of the season.

I get the feeling that it is more about do we want to keep him or not. Not what we thought of the challenge.

If we want to keep him (appeal) if we don't (let it stand).

Would be a shame if his Charlton career ends like that.
Eh? He will miss the first playoff leg.

Knowing him, probably done his shoulder ligaments and will be out until October anyway.

Maybe I'm watching a different video?

    The ball is miles away.
    Aneke is blocking his run.
As the WW player goes past Aneke whacks his shoulder into the WW players face.
The ref was watching with a clear view.

Aneke is an idiot for even being there, let alone doing what he did.

He then went down like a sack of spuds holding his face. I've seen him do that at The Valley when there has been no contact. It's embarrassing.

Completely agree. Ref is looking straight at him when he does it too. Absolute idiot.

That Twitter clip is the most useful so far.

Brownie said “the ref has got to be 100% sure”( to give a straight red) . Watching the ref in that clip he has seen the two of them at each other and tells them to pack it in, he turns back to the play, then he turns round again, and is annoyed they are still at it - but then he turns back to the play before the crucial moment, because he has to, and turns round again, probably because of crowd noise. I think he’s winged it.

We should appeal because there is no jeopardy, and I have had it up to here with poor decision-making with cards by refs. How can it possibly be right to give Aneke a straight red and nothing at all to Leahy? Only a head-butt justifes such a scenario. At first I thought it might have been that, but it wasnt. I think the ref guessed it was. Shit refereeing decision. Again.

I think he’s bracing himself for contact but not throwing his shoulder into the player, he’d have done better not bracing himself and being clattered to the floor though

The ref was watching the tussle but then turns away towards play for the collapse.

No excuse - Chuks was an idiot to even get involved. Just walk away! Totally unnecessary and only has himself to blame.

Ahadme winner to send us up. Written in the stars.

The ref was looking in the other direction from where I see it 🤔

For those saying walk away, the Wycombe player grabs him and then when Aneke gets clear he gets run into. Not sure he has much chance to walk away

But the ref is not, at that point (as above), play has moved far from them. Sure the ref is trying to monitor and cant look both ways, but that why they need to be sure before flashing cards. And if they need help they need to be given help. From the assistant, from the 4th official, from VFR.

Was he sent off for violent conduct?

If so, the run into him and theatrical dive without a headbutt/punch should prove no violence. I can see testosterone fuelled antics as Chuks deciding to man-mark a forward near the right-back position suggests some verbals in the build up. But, the ref dealt well with this kind of stuff with Lloyd Jones being a potential target for getting sent off in the first half.

Stupid from Chuks to get involved at 4-0 up but that's surely not worth a red.

If that tussle was at a corner and the ref saw it, he'd have a word and probably book the pair of them for being dicks. But he definitely wouldn't be sending him off.

The still shows that he looked at them at some stage, not that he monitored them through the entire collision.

Quite right, he didn’t and couldn‘t because the ball was in play in the opposite direction.

Sort of related- why did NJ get booked? Are we paying the price for perceived ill discipline?
