    What "more"???
Perhaps he's agreeing with the decision & blaming Chuks. Perhaps there have been words with Chuks about his behaviour before & this was the last straw. His answers are not clear cut in any way.
  • I don't care whether it happened or not. The thought of Chuks being thrown off the coach for being naughty still makes me smile.
  • The irony is moments before he nearly scored and which will be sad for him if this isn’t overturned and he finishes his football at this point.
  • Sort of related- why did NJ get booked? Are we paying the price for perceived ill discipline?
Jones got booked for over celebrating a goal...
At least he is getting booked for positives this time

He said on CharltonTV that he was going to speak to the referee straight after his interview with Charlotte when asked about the decision - Cant see him wanting to go and speak to the referee if he wanted to say nothing more than: "Great call there mate"
Jones saying to refs they made the right call- I would love to see that

Surely an appeal has no jeopardy?
Well he is out of contract at the end of the season.

I get the feeling that it is more about do we want to keep him or not. Not what we thought of the challenge.

If we want to keep him (appeal) if we don't (let it stand).

Would be a shame if his Charlton career ends like that.
Eh? He will miss the first playoff leg.

Yes, Chuks is suspended for 3 games- but he can still get the winner at Wembley

I thought he looked remarkably calm when talking on the pitch with the Referee @ FT
  • I think the fear will be an inconclusive camera angle to definitively prove his innocence.

It’s not a red but getting it overturned without compelling evidence is the hurdle.

  • The Wycombe player is trying to lead but Chuks isn't having any of it.
  • For me the 'needless' comment says it all. Frankly the evidence to overturn the red card is unlikely to be much better that the fragment the ref saw, as he seemed to wait a long time to give the red. But why on earth did Chucks feel the need to go full on wrestling mode at the end of a game we had won 4-0 when both sides were running down the clock? Whatever Leahy was doing or saying was unlikely to be much that couldn't be trumped with the words 'four nil boy'. I genuinely see Chucks as an asset at this stage of the season, but the grappling he does often seems to hand the ball needlessly to the opposition.
  • I can actually understand why the referee has given a red card now... It does look on glance as though Aneke either headbutts or swings his right arm at him (at 1:40), and Leahy going down would backup that initial reaction, whereas instead I think its more because Leahy runs into him - Equally around 1:33 there looks like a bit of a swing of a leg from Leahy as he goes to kick Chuks.

Definitely nothing more than a booking for both individuals in my opinion, and hope it gets rescinded.

But can "see" why the referee has come to his conclusion
  • No way is that a red card. Will it get rescinded? Maybe.
  • Think the appeal might depend on what the ref writes in his report, if he says he thinks there's a swing of an arm or a headbutt, then there isn't a leg to stand on. If he's said he thinks Chuks has moved his shoulder into the head of Leahy then I can see why he would think that
  • no chance that's getting rescinded, even though it was both of them clowning about
  • I love players that play with a bit of an edge and like to start these battles with the opposition. However I will in this instance say it was completely needless.

Don't believe it was a red, wont get overturned.

Gutted for Chuks and us. Really wanted him to sign off his time at Charlton with a goal or 2 in the run in. And from our point of view with Miles and Kanu out we need our strikers available.

Wont complain too much if he hits McLean with the steel chair on Saturday
  • Sorry if mentioned but if we appeal he's available for the Wrexham game isn't he? But then if rejected he wouldn't be available until the final, assuming we're in the playoffs and get there. Or we don't appeal and he's available for the second leg.

All depends on how quickly the appeal is held, think they try to get it done before the next game

Charlton Athletic have had poor semi finals in Play offs: Palace, Shrewsbury and Swindon off the top of my head to go with Ipswich and Doncaster triumphs.
Plus we got past Leeds at 3 attempts when they were in the old 2nd and we were the old 1st Division when I don't believe there was a semi final play off 🤔

Over the two legs i can't help fearing that if Matty Godden was suddenly sick or injured and couldn't play we might have to play Ahadme or our striker coach Hylton and that is a nightmare scenario.
Would Nathan go with Dbick ? Any news on Kanu who is ,"excellent at closing down" quoted Sniffer dog before Daniel's two injuries.

50/50 if the red is resinded as even though Leary ran into Chuks after the holding by both men, it has taken away from a brilliant scoreline against a team that had been strong in League 1 for 43 matches and "Ruthless Addicks," +"Chairboys are unseated from 2nd spot" which should've been the story.

We played Ipswich in the 1987 play off semi finals.

    Cheers for jogging my memory.
38 years ago and I would've gone as I did to every 'home' game at Selhurst park as I only lived 3 miles away at the time.

I can remember going home and away in 98 for Ipswich as didn't desperate Danny Mills get sent off in the Play off 1st leg 11 years after that first encounter because of his Norwich Connection and he lost his discipline ?

Maybe , just maybe, Chuks had been watching Wrestle mania this weekend.
Anyone watching  Troy Deeney in Baller League this week- I think we have found Chuks' next move.

Never really had a good record  vs Charlton (lost four, sent off once, scored twice). Ironically enough (if my history is correct) it was buying Deeney that allowed Birmingham to sell Chuks back to us for his second spell.
