Which side of the fence are you on?
I'm in the Wright camp.

  • No doubt will be shown live on pay per view. So won't be watching.
  • Wright's a genuine guy. Aluko leaves me cold.
  • Aluko seems to be a professional WUM.
  • What's this about anyway?
  • Do we still do "would ya?" threads?
We could do one for each to make it more inclusive.
  • If it comes down to who is the better pundit then you would struggle to find a single person who would rate Aluko over Ian Wright.

  • Just another professional provocateur.

Essentially Aluko doesn't want Wrighty working on women's football because it stops chances for her. Wrighty has done loads for the women's game.
Sigh!! - Whats worse is I'm sure she'll make it easy for lazy idiots to say: "Well if males cant commentate on the female game, females shouldnt be commentators / pundits in the male game" - Things like what she's said, ultimately end up doing more harm that good!!
  • So her reasoning is stick to your own sex as in women for women’s football & men for men’s football!  So no more women commenting on the man’s game! Surely shooting herself in the foot here!   Think she’s awful by the way! Always a victim!
  • Ian Wright has done more for the Womens game in this country than most Women have
  • Well you need to have someone on there that actually knows what they're talking about.
  • So let me get this right, there should be more woman commentating on the men’s game but less men commentating on the woman’s game?

what happened to the best person gets the job.

Ian wright generally hosts woman’s internationals with two woman and it works!!! For a palace **** he is a very good pundit for both men’s and woman’s football

  • Maybe she hasn't been in the headlines recently and is trying to stay relevant. Such a helmet.
  • Aluko is no where near the standards needed for a decent pundit in either men's or women's game. Very poor insights whenever I've seen her on TV.

Can see her becoming one of those TV personalities who just floats between the I'm A Celebrity and dancing type programmes.

Spot on - the best case for everyone is that the best pundits get the job regardless of gender or, let's be honest, former career - some journalists are much better pundits than some former players for example.

Saying a man shouldn't be commenting on women's football is as idiotic as the opposite argument.

Exactly what I thought when I first saw it
  • What on earth is she on about?
Perhaps she’d prefer it if it was women only on women’s football and men only on men’s football?

  • Putting her punditry opinions and punditry skills to one side - I do have sympathy with where she's at and how she got there; and where this might be spiralling.
  • Seems she's making a reasonable point about the history of commentary in the women's game based on her experience and in the aftermath of the case against Barton. I think it's disingenuous to make it her versus Wright.  He was used as an example that it seems she herself didn't cite but the radio4 interviewer did.

Then you have the daily mail sharpening the situation as a bust up as they are prone to do, and a pile on on here. A lot about nothing much imo, and good luck to her in making her point, using her platform, and earning a living.
Maybe she's getting less work, not because of male pundits, but because the TV companies now have a whole new generation of female TV pundits to choose from. Ones like Karen Carney who have far more recent playing experience and like Jill Scott who have won a major tournament (and I'm a Celeb).

I was certainly not intending to be disingenuous. I asked which side of the fence you were on  meaning who did you prefer as a pundit. As on all threads you will get personal opinions.
