I’m a fan of chucks but can’t see him getting another deal and no way should he6

I mean....we are always told its not the time to play this player or that player due to pressure...." what if he makes a mistake" / " the pressure will be too much for him".
I do wonder though whether NJ was hoping he'd make something happen so we'd get another favourable notch or two on our goal difference........ and perhaps he wanted Chuks to end his goal scoring lean spell going into the last games of the season?2 -
Play off second leg is where we might be in “need a goal” territory so at least he will be back for that
Expect we will see more of Hylton in the next 2 games if we are leading5 -

I assume the reason the late action in the game mattered to NJ is that goal difference is still a consideration for us and particularly against Wycombe. We weren’t going to lose but conceding late goals or scoring them could still prove significant.18

Plenty having a go at the ref, but in general he had a pretty good game.
Aneke made a stupid error. Holds his arms out he gets a foul for being assaulted.
The ref however should have been sensible to the situation. Injury time, 4-0 and given a yellow.0 -
Odd that it wasn't over-ruled. There's one camera shot when you see Leahy pushing his chest/head into Chuks and dropping to the ground.
He's been a weapon this season, but I'd be surprised if he's here next season. Wouldn't be unhappy if he stayed though.2 -
How stupid of Chuks not to disappear into thin air when a player ran at him! he should be ashamed....18
-
The only person to blame is the ref for getting it wrong.12

He's a senior pro. We were 4-0 up. The spat before the incident, which the ref clearly saw was unnecessary. He should've just walked away.
Poor from Chuks15 -
So he misses the last 2 games of the season and the first leg of the playoffs? Can't wait for him to pop up in the second leg with a vital goal, it's written in the stars3

Off_it said:I get that he's one of ours, so we're generally biased, but some of the comments and reactions on here are truly laughable.
Chuks the angelic choirboy has apparently been dreadfully wronged by a cowardly cheat, an inept ref and an unaccountable and unjust appeal process. It's all perfectly clear, despite the inconclusive (either way) camera footage from 2 different angles.
OK, if you say so!7 -

4th official gets a say
and referee Finnie was laughably inconsistent throughout
The EFL back their dismal referees unless it is mistaken identityAn independent panel decide as well, not the EFL.
Independent from the two competing teams, certainly.
Independent from the EFL? Not even slightly. This 'panel' is appointed by, remunerated by the EFL who give the panel its terms of reference and the scope of what may be considered in appraising the legitimacy or otherwise of the referee's decision. That is only 'independent' if you are Vladimir Putin or Kim Jong Un. I don't seek to impune the integrity of the individuals but the context in which they are allowed to operate is not independent of the EFL.
We've seen the footage, we've read the eye witness opinion, we know that Leahy is a diver and yet that independent panel declined to rescind the referee's faulty decision.

At 1-0 up i'd get it, but at 4-0 up he could've surely brought Mbick on instead to give him a bit more experience.1 -

Not sure why he came on given the score at the time.

Goal difference? One more v Wycombe and swings in results needed for it to be relevant would've put us effectively ahead of them and closer to Wrexham who we can pretty much match with a victory tomorrow. Unlikely but could end up being important.0

But it's the ref's fault?
It's one of the elements of the modern game I detest - it's why outside of Charlton and my boys team I very rarely watch football.
And when I do watch Charlton it pisses me off as well. Why did Aneke go down holding his face? Because he was cheating. But we defend that cheating and blame the ref?
Most bizarre. If I were Aneke I'd be embarrased.

Kone was the danger man, so smash him in the first 5 minutes, which is what Jones did.3 -
If anything is wrong, it’s the three game ban. A one game ban? Maybe. But three games when far worse altercations get the same looks wrong.2

Exactly, big fan of our defence putting in a big reducer on the main oppo threats early. Only sensible course of action for the ref when this happens is to have a word and let our defenders know another one like that will be a yellow. Not a big fan of the oppo defenders doing the same to TC obvs. Only sensible course of action for the ref when that happens is a straight red.6

Fine line between a "sensible" ref or one who decides he'll show whose boss early on ?
And 2 early doors yellows for Lloydy now ....Something we have to hope doesn't come in 3s.2 -
To paraphrase a certain Canadian owner of a Welsh Football club - "Nothing can make the EFL reject an appeal faster than some of that sweet sweet Disney money"5

As opposed to getting involved in physical shenanigans off the ball.
