Fair enough. Do you think it might be possible Anderson got dropped because it was easier to drop the young guy to accommodate more senior signings like Alan Campbell, Luke Berry, Conor Coventry, and Greg Docherty? I fully admit my bias because I am always inclined to look on our own a bit more favourably than incomers.
Jones clearly likes/rates Karoy, and dropping him could have been for his own protection, rather than further damaging his confidence after performances were not matching his potential.
You can say it's worked out well if Karoy follows up yesterdays superb performance with more like it this season, whether that's in starting 11 or off the bench.
He did something things well yesterday. His pressure on the opposing midfielders led to some interceptions and he also made some good runs off the ball including the one half chance that he had. He was poor on the ball again which is clearly holding him back. Normally I would say he is best served being on the bench but given the run form we are having, something is working big picture so don’t tinker with the starting lineup right now.

I’m not his biggest fan but doc was noticeably better when he came on but I noticed a lot of good things with Anderson yesterday.
I agree some of his technique was good (there is progress in his play and created some good chances), but when he was challenged he got muscled by Pratley and gave the ball away on a number of occasions.
Always find it striking how different he is on and off the pitch. On the pitch he's a bundle of energy and off it he is so chilled out. He doesn't seem as shy as TC, there's a quite, calm confidence about him
Another young player who has been at the club for most of his life who seems very grounded and likeable the club must be doing something really great in developing these lads as people
I found out earlier he had some issues in his private life which I won’t go into but safe to say it’s understandable if there is a drop in form.
Having said that TC also had different but significant issues going on that affected him for a bit. From what I can gather CAFC did a quite superb job of helping them theough it and beyond it and are now reaping some rewards
Karoy is still young and developing but he really is an asset to us. I’m waiting for his “Scott Parker” moment where he just bosses a few games and smashes people up in the air and says “yeah, I’m here”
That goal couldn't have come at a better time for him. I hope it gives him added confidence, not in just his general game, but in attacking the box. I feel he could be a very important player in the final games.

Brownie said similar about private issues yesterday
Karoy Anderson brings great energy to the centre midfield, that can really help later on in games. Not sure he has the energy to sustain that impact yet for a whole match from the start of a game.
Yesterday did he did some good things, but does not have the range of passing that bring other players in in the advanced central midfield role. Berry can do that well on occassions. Anderson is not yet an advanced midfield player. Nathan Jones asked him to play in a position, that is not his best. Similar, he NJ asked him play right back, the other week, which was not his position either. Its helpful to remember this when looking at KA's performance yesterday. It doesn't work but Anderson did his best, did what the manager asked and play in an uncomfortable position. He deserves credit for that.
NJ is doing his best with a squad lacking in depth with quality, and depleted with injury. NJ is a good manager and understand that he is not going to get every decision right. NJ is limited by the budget set for him. He has done well to get Charlton to the playoffs.
Wrexham also were fast off the blocks and tore into Coventry and Doherty yesterday. This put Chalton on the back foot, whilst a changed midfield & disrupted team was finding their feet.
Anderson has lots of good qualities that deserves his space in the squad. He is best when in a central midfield position, when some energy is needed. Good to remember this, when he is played out of position. KA is still developing and hopefully will improve further. If he can learn from playing other positions (even though it did not work), then games like yesterday can help strenghten his game.
Jones has to work out that midfield in the summer. All too similar and zero creativity.
He’s got the workmanlike bit sorted. Now we need to add a touch of sparkle
I’m just not sure Jones values that sort of midfielder. The team is built to win the ball quickly and counter but no plan or alternative if that doesn’t work.

Think part of Karoy’s issue yesterday was actually the loss of Small. Watson doesn’t naturally sit as high which left a big area for Karoy to cover, that then had a knock on effect of Doc & Civentry

Midfielders who can dominate physically AND create are like gold dust though. Unless you have some money to spend, you end up with lightweight flair players, or water carriers.
Ideal player for when you need someone to come on and run around and press, but of no value to us when we actually need to chase a game or create something. The amount of misplaced passes is maddening.
Some of the abuse Anderson gets makes me cringe. The bloke behind me yesterday was venting and booting chairs each time Anderson made an error.
Anderson is a long way from the finished article but he gives 100% for our club, clearly gets and likes the club and never, ever hides. I hope.he comes good and think he will, his guts and bravery have probably counted against him so far as they have meant NJ gets him to fill in out of position so often.

Was that the fella in the Charlton shirt right next to the Wrexham fans by the dug outs?

The point is, you can have two different types of player in midfield, rather than three of the same.
