This months (Nov) issue has extraordinary spread photo of the Valley in 1947 (v Blackburn). More photos on Topfoto website. Well worth a look.

    Great photos. The bit that comes home to me from these pictures and other Wartime shots that I've seen is how little the ground changed from this period until the early 1970's. There was clearly no investment for 25 years or more.

    Didn't they have consortiums (consortia?) in the 1940's?
