  • RIP Mike. Lots of good memories and always a lovely man. Blessed to have you as my uncle. Lovely to read such lovely messages and I’m sure the direct family will appreciate it.

Every month a group of about 10 ex Roan School "boys" meet up at lunchtime at the Long Pond and Mike was always there to serve us with his excellent beer (Pond Life), pork pies and cheese.
He was part of the group and kept us informed with his vast knowledge of almost everything. He had a great sense of humour.
It's so hard to come to terms with the very sad fact that we wont have his company in the future.
    He will be greatly missed.
    RIP

As an ex Roan I was wondering if you could say who you/they are?

Will contribute next payday. A great project to fund, which ties in perfectly with all the great things said on this thread regarding Chirpy.  I did not know Mike personally but the passing of an Addick needs to be recognised.
RIP again and God bless those he leaves behind.

Just as a bit of additional info as I just read about this and they smashed their target in a day so are going to buy a second one for the local area. Such a great idea.

Thanks for sharing, I might not have found out otherwise. They are at 219% of original target already!

There are some familiar names that have contributed to the fund. Whoever donated in the name of Crystal Palace Supporters Club has a great sense of humour 😂

Indeed. Original target was £2,000 but now through the £8,000 line. A great legacy and indicative of what people thought of Mike and all that he did for the local community.

We said goodbye to Mike today. A lovely ceremony where everything from Bowie being played at the start to CL getting a mention for the fact that he was proud of his reputation of being the biggest WUM on here was absolutely spot on. And just as he would have liked it. There was so much more though and the fact that I would say well over 300 people from every group of friends he touched during his lifetime attended. Farewell mate. We'll miss you.

I never knew the gentleman but to have that turnout shows how popular and well thought of he was, sleep well Sir.
