It was good that we could afford to withdraw him, Godden and Coventry after 70 minutes. Referee: 7 - not the most difficult game to referee and he was fine

RAMSAY: - 8 A bit hyperbolic, but Beckenbaur-esque. Was enjoying himself so much in the 2nd half, he thought he'd have a go at being a midfielder. Some of his passing was sublime. An absolute Rolls Royce of a player.
MITCHELL: - 6 Completely screwed up for the penalty, but was then on a mission to head anything that came anywhere near him. There were a few more dodgy moments with his feet, which shows why Jones is preferred. Redemption with the crucial 3rd goal, of course with his head.
GILLESPHEY: - 7 While Ramsay is playing as "Der Kaiser", and Mitchell is having a bit of a Curate's Egg, Macca was the rock on which our defence was built. An outstanding turn around from the start of the season.
WATSON: - 7 Not the excitement of a rampaging Small, but a steadiness that allows Ramsay to be more mercurial. He may be nowhere near as fast as Small, but his decision making and passing are a cut above.
GILBERT: - 6 Good with the ball, but fluffed his lines a few times in sight of the goal. Nowhere near as tenacious as Berry, and his lack of competitiveness in the air began to grate on me. Decent, but not even close to replacing Berry, if fit.
COVENTRY: - 8 Another outstanding performance by Conor. Does a lot of the dirty work, and his fitness is unreal. Never looks tired. Winning player's player of the year shows how highly regarded he is by his teammates. And the cross for the 3rd goal was the icing on the cake.
DOCHERTY: - 7.5 Another hard working performance by Doc. Should have put away at least one of his chances, though. One thing I loved was, towards the end, when all the youngsters were on, you could him him shouting and encouraging the young players in where to go, when to press, etc. No mean feat for me to hear him in a bouncing atmosphere at The Valley!
EDWARDS: - 7.5 Another steady, disciplined, hard working display from my favourite Scotsman.
GODDEN: - 8.5 MotM What a player. He really is the most complete striker we have had in many years. The 2nd goal was a sublime piece of skill, but the angle and distance of his first was remarkable. Tremendous technique.
CAMPBELL - 6 Started off very lively, but faded a bit. Maybe not surprising, as in the first half, every time he tried to run he had a Burton player hanging on to his arm. Looks like he's low on confidence at the moment.
