Had a health check this week, where was i was told I've got high blood pressure, 3 tests, 150/81,145/74 & 41/72. We've got a blood pressure monitor in doors, that we used and on the same day reading were 122/84 & 113/68. Doctor said i should get a clinically validated one, which i have done (same make as the one the doctor's) and average results over the last few days 122/73, including this morning when I got up it was 121/76 and after 1 1/2 hrs dog walking through Bostall Woods, it was 121/73. I know I've got to loss a couple of stone and walk 10K steps everyday, not sure what to make of the results at the docs, other than perhaps their machine isn't correct. Got another appointment next, so we go in armed with my results, don't really want to start taking tablets.
The Dr's could be right at the same time yours can be. It is not unusual for peoples blood pressure to rise at the Doctors, for a number of reasons including stress of being at the Doctors, no time to relax at the Doctors*. At home you are in a safe and familiar environment so your BP is lower. Your readings at the Doctors are not massively high, but obviously they would like to get them lower than 140.
You could try going to your Pharmacist and ask them for a free check, maybe don't say you are checking against the Drs tests but that you are not confident your home device is testing positive.
* It is recommended that before taking your blood pressure you relax for 2 minutes, then take your BP, then relax for a further 2 minutes and take it again and then relx again for 2 minutes and take a third reading. The reading recorded out of the 3 is the lowest one. Invariable the 1st one is the highest in most cases.
As above and don't stress about the 10k steps a day. Try and get quality steps in, to include up hill and off road if you can.
I’ve only missed 3 days in nearly 5 years of doing at least 10k steps a day, if there’s one thing that does stress me out is the thought of not doing them.
Sounds like you've got "white coat syndrome" where you are stressed going to the doctors. My sister had this problem and she was fitted with a monitor which recorded over a 24 hour period and she turned out to have "normal" readings.

Never had a problem before, wasn’t stressed about going, I was on time and the doc was running 20 minutes late, so sat around waiting, not sure if it was that, as I hate being late.

Is your doctor female, very attractive by any chance ?
Funny you should say that, she wasn't my doctor, but she was, didn't help she was asked me about erectile dysfunction.
Just done a blood pressure test after 4 pints of Guinness, reading was 119/72.
After being diagnosed with atrial flutter I had a cardioversion this week to shock me back into 'normal' rhythm. So far so good. Downside is I'm now on three extra tablets per day and my dosage of apixaban (blood thinner) has doubled in strength. Feel like I'm rattling now !!
Be thankful you don't have to inject. Bloody horrible painful bruises all over abdomen and stomach.

I ever feel stressed about going to the doctor, but I have the same issue. I took my monitor in with me once, which always showed lower ratings, and we used theirs and mine - both showed the same elevated reading. He diagnosed white coat syndrome, as he was convinced my machine was working OK.
I was diagnosed with high BP about 3-4 years ago and have to take ramipril. The docs have told me to eat no more than 6g of salt a day and I was given a set of exercises to do.
I do my BP readings morning and evening now every day despite the doc telling me once a month is enough if I'm feeling well.
Anyway, white coat syndrome...
I've been averaging 114/78 in the mornings and 130/85 by late evening (and I walk on average 20k steps a day nowadays and 6ft/14st)
We were getting a life insurance sorted a couple of weeks back and the insurance company sent a nurse to do an assessment on us at home.
Urine test. BP, Weight... oh and btw Mr D. if the urine test shows adverse results, I'll have to do a blood test... well fuck me, I dont do blood tests and I pass out instantly. Right let me just do your BP now Mr D...erm can I have a couple of minutes to stop hyperventilating? Oh its 172/112, I'll have to report that to the insurance company.
An hour after she left, 130/82 at 6pm. Thats white coat syndrome for you.
Havent heard from the insurance company yet, will unlikely insure me now.
Anyhow, the nurse did say that my urine test was fine, but it did show her I do not drink enough water and that plays a big part in elevated blood pressure. I'm now drinking 4-5 pints of water a day instead of tea and I can see my daily BP averages have dropped since.
I have my blood pressure checked at my surgery every 3 months. Tip from my nurse before/during the test. Breathe in for count of 5, hold for count of 5, breathe out for 5. Repeat.
I now drink around 2 litres of water every day and walk around 5 miles.
I use a wrist blood pressure test device from Boots which is simple to use and provides accurate results.
