Football in Europe - secondary ticket sites

Anyone any experience of secondary ticket sights like StubHub, Viagogo.  I am off to Europe soon and want to catch a game but it looks sold out so would be my only option.
Never used before, are they just full of scams or is there some protection

Thanks

  • what club?
  • Little protection save for possibly getting your money back - many teams, Barcelona included allow their season ticket holders to sell their tickets back to the club and in turn these are resold via the club at face value - perhaps check directly with the clubs before going via stubhub and the like
  • Seat Pick is my go-to, however always try the actual clubs ticketing service first, for the Fiorentina game I went to recently tickets were 37€ each for decent views, on various ticket websites the lowest was 60€ plus a 20€ fee per ticket!
  • I happen to be in Lisbon Saturday. It is the derby game, Benfica v Sporting. With 2 games left they are equal top so not only a derby but the title decider.
The official site weirdly says "temporarily sold out".
To make it even more impossible, there are 7 of us.
StubHub was showing 7 seats together for cheaper than many single seats are going for... It just seems too good to be true.
  • Ive always used clubs official sites too. Dont want to put you off as Im sure a lot are fine but Ive heard some horror stories about these 3rd party sites with tickets not working or even being available when you get to the ground.

You may be able to get tickets on the day from the main ticket office outside the ground, or alternatively from randoms selling tickets.

Alternatively, if you are on Facebook, there is a group called European Football Weekends. Request to join, someone on there may be a member and have the capabilities to see tickets online that general public cant. There is lots of helpful people on the group.
  • Went to AC Milan vs Napoli in October and bought via viagogo.  Process was seamless, but def paid a premium on the ticket for the privaledge.
  • have used ticombo before without any issues

Is it an idea to find an agency in Lisbon?

I hope you're wanting Sporting to win btw :)

    Yeah ,will look into that.
Hadn't really thought about who I want to win.  Probably depends who's fans I sit with if I get a ticket!

Maybe ask the hotel if they know of anywhere? Sometimes they can have match tickets available.
  • This sounds impossible for 7 seats.

Estrela da Amadora are in the same league, play in Lisbon, are at home on Sunday, and their stadium has stations nearby.

Same, behind goal, 2nd row from back. View was still great though.

Think I had to pay £45 each ticket, so big mark up.

Was absolutely f*king freezing up there, so I won't be going there in winter time again!

I did also pay £50 for a Barcelona champions league ticket last year, that wasn't worth it.

Sounds good but have bought my flight home forwards 24 hours to Sunday to get to the Wycombe game.
