Their forum users may not be as clued up as ours, but if true, that's shocking.4
-
If that chap is correct and they've only sold 2,900, it may be down to the fact that they know they won't sell out the home allocation. If so there's no rush to buy and they can even pay on the day, without any bother.2

Shocking on their part really!1

They're a small club though tbf. For the last two decades, average somewhere between 3-5k fans across the 20 seasons.
If they started selling out suddenly it would be fairweather fans.
Not that it makes them any less of a footballing side, but it's true. They just don't have the best infrastructure to grow as a club either.

Has anyone received their match tickets in the post yet ? They wouldn't have gone in the post until yesterday, so hopefully they'll drop on the doormat tomorrow.1

I am waiting as well
Worst case scenario and they don’t arrive tomorrow -I take it we have to try and contact club….0 -
Wycombe were sound at re printing tickets just needed from your ticket purchase history the transaction number and the seat number of the ticket you’d been allocated0

For their game with Shrewsbury at the start of April, Wycombe's attendance was 3,806.
Obviously not glamorous opposition and it was a Tuesday night, but this was at a time when they were still favourites to get second place.
So given their form coming into the play offs, the fact that half their fanbase want the manager sacked, as well as losing heavily to us recently, it's really not a surprise they haven't sold many.

The location of Wycombe's stadium must be a handicap to the club for ever building attendances, miles from the station, one local bus route which only runs a half-hourly service on a Sunday, with last bus back to the town centre at 19.18 on a Sunday & also on a back end of a trading estate with only one road in & same road out resulting in very long delays for anybody travelling by road.
It is one of the worst away trips of the season despite Wycombe having a very fast & frequent rail service from Marylebone.
Whoever thought of building a stadium in that location must be mad or hates football.

No it isn't . Charlton pride themselves on the Academy, and all the money goes to the Academy, bar the prizes , at £120 a year, it's good value, you feel the glow of supporting Charlton first team players in the future, and as a benefit you get priority ticketing, and as a bonus you get the chance of winning the odd cash prize.
I understand that some people may stretch themselves, financialy, to purchace a season ticket, but Valley Gold is protecting the future of the club, and I personally feel that the balance on priority ticket sales is about correct.
You could have one Charlton fan be a season ticket holder for 2 years and attend all 92 league games. Another could attend 62 with the season ticket for 2 years and take priority on away tickets if they have VG. That's 30 less away games attended, roughly £750 quids worth of tickets, not including all the expenses getting to those extra games etc. Which is going to easily exceed £1500.
It isn't an issue, but if it was, £240 over 2 years would potentially be trumping about £2000 potentially if a fan went to every away over 2 seasons.
You see these debates at all levels across football. No club will get it spot on.Ultimately it’s a moot point, no one who attends all the away matches but hasn’t got VG will miss out. But if you start deprioritising VG eligibility then it may dissuade people from joining or retaining their membership with no actual upside.BalladMan said:Braziliance said:altrinchamaddick said:Valley gold is heavily overrated. Not really moaning tbf, just saying I think the system could be better as it doesn't factor how much fans are actually spending to follow the club.
If I had it my way, fans would be getting priority who had Charlton tattoos and all sorts.
Anyway, got my tickets, great system today.
1. A Season Ticket for 2 years.
2 Attend 7 away games this season and 7 last season.
You've got over 800 points and were never in danger of not getting a ticket.
For me the system is fair and every away game with a bit of demand the same old argument comes up.
Yet people who go regularly always get a ticket regardless if they're Valley Gold or not. Funny that.
Not to dig you out, but this seems like complaining for the sake of complaining.
I'm also a Valley Gold member.1 -

More shocking is the fact that for the last six seasons, Wycombe Wanderers and Charlton Athletic are pretty much on a par league standing and performance wise. You could even say they've looked far more likely to get promoted in recent seasons.17 -
They are certainly a club that has outperformed their support and natural size. My memories of them were of playing Welling United in non-league in the 90s when Martin O’Neil was starting his managing career. To have retained league football for 30 years and be pushing again for the Championship on their crowds is some achievement19
