  • 136-8 so they probably will see Liverpool v Arsenal.
  • They might as well have left Benjamin out there, he was in soon enough.Absolutely shocking.
  • 155-9
  • All over
  • All out 176. Lost by an innings and 161 runs.
  • Deeb winning the toss and inserting on a road for a 2nd time this season tells us everything we need to know about how Kent's championship season is going to pan out.
Aren't there any rules in cricket against not trying?
Glamorgan even artificially extended Kent's 2nd innings by rapidly bowling filth to ward off the possibility of over rate penalties - which says plenty about how dopey those rules are too.
  • As an aside, I was at Essex match yesterday

we had to take Jamie's 3yo inside, as Young Johnny Bairstow started slapping the ball around, and it was flying into the players family enclosure. I have never seen a ball hit so fast/cleanly as his flat pulls for four.
One shot had Tom Westley's parents, diving to the floor off of their chairs, as the ball smacked into the wall at head height behind them

That reminds me of a T20 game I was watching at Richmond Park, when Eoin Morgan smacked a six over my head and into the burger van behind me!
  • Ben Dawkins and Jamal Richards named in a Professional County Club XI to play Zimbabwe

    PCC Select XI squad:
    Josh De Caires (Middlesex, Captain)
    Archie Bailey (Gloucestershire)
    Luc Benkenstein (Essex)
    Jafer Chohan (Yorkshire)
    Ben Dawkins (Kent)
    Alex Green (Leicestershire)
    Eddie Jack (Hampshire)
    Mitch Killeen (Durham)
    Ben Mayes (Hampshire)
    Seb Morgan (Middlesex)
    Dan Mousley (Warwickshire)
    Thomas Rew (Somerset)
    Jamal Richards (Essex)

  • Presumably because of his A Levels, Ben hasn't been played a game for the 2nd XI or in club cricket for a month. He is 18 and in he's in our Academy and he's probably the only one of that 13 without a pro contract. We will have to give him one if he is to play in the 50 over competition.

  • Surprisingly De Caires is yet to play in the county championship this season

They've signed Zafar Gohar, not surprising at all

He played club cricket in Adelaide this winter with mixed success. Averaged 21.54 from 13 innings with the bat and took 13 wickets at 16.00 with the ball. Most of those wickets were taken in T20s too. Played against Jas Singh in one of those games.
  • Desperately needed to bolster the seam department. Hopefully they are ready and firing.

Jake Ball is in a different league to Jamal Richards. Not only is he a former England international and in his only game this season in the CC he tool 7-74 for Durham against Worcester in Div 1 but hasn't been able to get into the side since. Alfie Ogbourne played a couple of games for us last season with limited success but at least is a year older now.
  • That suggests that Mikey Cohen is still not going to be fit to play a game for us as Ball, Ogborne and Kashif Ali (providing he isn't injured too) are guaranteed a place and that's without taking into consideration the likes of, assuming they are fit too, a maximum of two from Stewart, Evison, Parkinson and Gilchrist.

No squad yet but they will be travelling today so that can't be too long from being announced.
  • No sooner had I typed that than.....

  • I'd forgotten that Ball was at Somerset now. Lets see how long he lasts before we break him.
  • What will it take for them to drop jack leaning ?

  • Finch is fit again to keep but, presumably, Benjamin will keep his place and one of those will open.

Crawley is with England, Garrett is being rested and Ekansh, Evison, O'Riordan, Quinn, Jas, Dudgeon, Cohen, Joe Denly are all injured/unfit. That leaves just Flintoff "who continues to build up his bowling volume for the Second XI".

So had I when I said about him not being able to get into the Durham side since that one game forgetting he was on loan there too.

He'll tweak his back driving down the A303 from Taunton to Canterbury.

With that in mind and as it's only just over an hour away, I suspect that he'll save himself an extra three hours driving by going straight to Bristol with Ogborne. In fact, if he's got any sense, he'll make Ogborne do the driving.
  • Jake Ball, was he the Charlton fan that played for Kent seasons ago?

I think that was Adam Ball.

Yes, I think you are right, Adam Ball was the Charlton fan. Thank you
  • 2-1 Finch gone already !

    Anyone have a stream ?

We have lost the toss and are batting. Finch has gone already as a result of a leg glance into the keepers gloves. We left out one of the loan players, Ogborne and also Parkinson so Jake Ball and Jaydn come in for Garrett and Ekansh

    2-1
  • On the grounds that the fortunes of Kent and Charlton often go in opposite ways, I expect us to beat Wycombe 9-0 tomorrow...
As it's clearly impossible for Kent and Charlton to be successful at the same time, it's noble of Kent to sacrifice themselves until Charlton have won at Wembley.
