Referee should have worked out that when one of their players was apologising for a tackle then it was obvious to the player concerned that it warranted a red. Since Ainsworth wycombe have always played thugball, and it is no wonder that the locals don't turn up to watch them.

Wycombe are due payback for their thugball last night and that League Cup quarter final - hopefully on Thursday!2

I thought it was a fairly uneventful game and both sides looked poor, but we will probably be slightly happier with the result given it looked the game plan was to not get beat.
There were some poor tackles by some of theirs admittedly, but I can't understand how off the back of that fairly drab game, it's riled a few up.
That's not having a dig at those that are riled up, simply that based on what I saw, I can't understand some of the animosity in the post match comments
Sorry but fuck em. I really dislike them.17 -

Everything about this 'tackle' is mindblowing. This image is at the BEGINNING of the assault, literally the definition of dangerous play. He goes with his right foot and doesn't get there so he swings his left and is so so far away from the ball. Look where the ball is in relation to where he makes contact?!
Its a no brainer red card on VAR and its also one of those where by giving a yellow it's almost more insulting, the ref must have seen the tackle/something to produce a yellow but has decided its not red worthy. The guy rides the back of his Achilles like this for a good meter or so
Throw in that Orient goal where you can drive a bus between the defender and offside goalscorer and it's been a successful weekend for L1 officials. One danger though of stepping out to the left is to put your left foot into the step line of the opponent. I’ll be generous and say that’s what’s happened here and Kone had no deliberate intention to land on his Achilles.I could be wrong after watch on TV though4 -
I do think we seem to be getting increasingly blinkered with things. Chuks wasn’t 100% innocent in his sending off and we are not adverse to mixing it, sly arts, non-beautiful football, play acting, running the clock down etc12

Should have used the playoff semi as a perfect game to test run the away fans in the West Stand. Give them 2k tickets at the end of it and put us all in the Jimmy Seed3

A big positive will be Small starting. Watson tries but doesn't give us much and he is prone to errors.3

in this case the club are right to put Wycombe in the Jimmy Seed but given that we’ve as good as sold out our home allocation and Wycombe didn’t give us any extra tickets I would cap there allocation at 2k and split the Jimmy Seed for extra home tickets.
I would also make sure the speakers in the Jimmy Seed are at full blast as well when the Wycombe players come out to warm up, return there little trick which didn’t go unnoticed yesterday.0 -

I'd be very surprised if Whycum bought 1K on Thursday, probably just a few hundred at best, so we need to split the JS stand and make as much noise as we can...0

It’s a stretch comparing us to Wycombe. Down here in London, we’re up against endless distractions and surrounded by clubs with glittering histories and bulging trophy cabinets, all within spitting distance. The fight for attention is a different beast entirely.

I stand to be corrected but I believe the gate money across the four League One games is pooled and each club receives just 12.5%, making 50%. The other 50% is spread amongst the rest of the league one clubs dependant on finishing position.1 -

Then the moment our players came out of course the noise level from our fans raised but at the same time the noise of the speakers was raised to its maximum frankly deafening levels as one or two others have mentioned on here.1 -

We’re not really ones to talk are we?In conclusion, Wycombe is not a hot bed of fanatical football support. But nor is Greenwich when compared to the likes of Burnley, Sunderland, Middlesbrough or even Ipswich.I just don’t think we can have too much of a pop at anyone. Greenwich, Bexleyheath and north Kent is a good catchment area for a historic club that has played most of its football in the second tier or above. Until we start averaging 22-25,000 in the Championship just standing still, we can’t really berate others too much. I get the competition thing, but Notts County average over 10,000 in L2, playing in a relatively small city with a far more successful club. That’s passionate support. They could literally just cross a bridge for better football.
Traditional non-league clubs who move into the 92 very rarely see much of an increase in their support.

If you say Greenwich and Bexley are legitimate Charlton catchment areas, that's over 535,000 people on our doorstep; and gates of 14,000 home fans represents only 2.6% of that number.
The entire district of Wycombe has a population of c175,00. Home support of c4,500 fans represents 2.6% of that population.
Charlton Pros: Integrated transport system thanks to London location, with easy access from north Kent too. 104 years of Football League history. Good history - FA Cup winners, seasons in top flight, including PL.
Charlton Cons: Have to compete for support with other, more successful London clubs within easy access thanks to integrated transport system. Playing below historic level.
Wycombe Pros: One club town. Playing above historical level.
Wycombe Cons: Close proximity to London. Southern commuter town, so not traditional football hotbed. Only 32 years of Football League history, most of it in tier 3 and 4. Stadium in poor location.
Therefore, I still think it is a weird stick to beat them with. If you half the population of Nottingham, you get c160,000. Notts County averaged around 9,500 home fans in L2. That's 5.9% of that population. They play literally across a bridge from twice European champions & current PL high flyers Nottingham Forest. The equivalent at The Valley would be 31,565 home fans. Ergo, we really can't be too snooty.4 -
The ref has played professionally, and I thought he had an excellent game when we played Bristol Rovers at home earlier on in the season. Less so yesterday.Chuks would've made a difference yesterday. Surprised that when Small came on him and TC were on opposite flanks, as they work so well together. Atmosphere petered out in the first half, but non stop singing in the second. Just gutted we didn't have a goal to celebrate.
