Added some real bite (especially that brave header which signalled we meant business through to full time) and a 40 yard accurate through ball to Godden too.
I think that bites always been there, the aggression to win the ball and bravery to challenge in the air is one of the reasons NJ rates him so highly.

With goal in the Wycombe league and moments like that ball though to Godden it’s great to see him offer more with the ball.

If he can do it consistently then Doc’s place in the team is there to be won. Doc’s consistent and hard working, but he doesn’t stand out when it comes passing, creativity or goalscoring.
I think you're missing out the fact that Doc is a leader, and captain of the team...
True, but that didn’t stop Parker taking Kinsella’s place once he added bite to his game. Anderson’s the opposite - he’s got that aggression, and he’s had games in which he’s shown ability on the ball, he’s just not shown enough consistency in that area.

Think he's really come on, still things to work on but made a real impact coming off the bench yesterday. If I was feeling contrary I'd say that, at this moment in time, I think he's a better player than Doc.
Think the academy tinted glasses are blinded some people, the only thing he is better at Doc then is his engine, I cant deny he is wholehearted and technical, but he is still pretty technically poor
Possibly a bit of both, I think that technically Doc isn't up to much either - but he plays within his ability better sometimes. That said, he's been a really good captain for us and I have no problem him being the first name on the team sheet.

Well he's captain of the team, but i remain unconvinced of his leadership abilities.
  • In terms of leadership let’s not forget he was incredibly quick in at the weekend to defend Gillesphey and got booked for his troubles, not the first time he’s done something like that either.
  • Karoy is a really strange enigma. He can look great one game and hopeless the next. Not sure if that’s a positional thing as in sometimes he is asked to do what he isn’t good at but it’s very strange. Loads of potential once he finds his role I think
  • For me at the moment, he’s a very effective impactful sub, to provide energy and intensity when the opposition are flagging.

He just doesn’t look the same player yet when he is starting games.

  • Most definitely a player for certain scenarios.
Look through our matches and you'll struggle to find a game where he started and we won. Or came on when we are losing and turned it around?
But if we're winning when he comes on and we want to defend the lead or even extend it, then he's your man.
Great if we're winning. Not so much if we aren't.

For context... He's started: 16 - Won: 7 - Lost: 4 (Stevenage, Bristol Rovers, Huddersfield, Wrexham... All Away)

Subbed on: 22, the below we won after he came on, apart from Bolton not saying he had a "impact" on that victory

     - Burton (A), Drawing at the time
     - Bolton (A), Losing at the time, scored the winner
     - Shrewsbury (H), Drawing at the time
     - Leyton Orient (A), Losing at the time
     - Mansfield (A), Drawing at the time
But apart from those games, he's not "great" if we aren't winning or if he starts.  :D:D:D
  • I think bow had a big impact on our centre mids. think amino, cullen, gallagher, pratley

Interesting people talking about "engines". Its testament to Jones just how many of these guys can go 100mins at full pelt and not look jaded! Doc, Coventry, Karoy, Edwards, Ramsay, Tyreece and even Gillesphey tbh! When was the last time you could look at our team and have that confidence? Compare this lot to shirkers like Fraser and Alex fucking Gilbey! Its great to see.
It's not just the physical capability either but the mindset too - having the will and the desire to turn it up a gear at the right time, sometimes even quite late in the game.
A lot of the time games have been fairly drab or equal but instead of wilting we find a way.

Didn't he replace Doc ( his child was being born) for the Huddersfield game? I thought the team performance in that game was the pick of the season. It was simply sublime. Granted Huddersfield fell off a cliff but they were still in the hunt in that game. Anderson had a great game playing in Doc's position but I agree, Doc is a great captain and has done a great job in our fantastic run.
