His last goal for us will be at Wembley. Good for him

If he scores the winner at Wembley give him a 10 year contract and a key to the city.
    I think it is written.
  • He done what he had to do when he come on he’s a unit

Would love him to nick the winner. Would be the perfect send off
.. would love him to score when we are already 3-0 up.

    Agreed.

I love the bloke and I’m so glad the red card won’t be the last thing he did in a Charlton shirt. Once the goal went in I knew we’d win because the ball just sticks to him. Glad to have the chance to watch him one more time
He’s the best hold up player we have , but “sticks to him” is a little ott.
  • Maybe pure nostalgia playing but I still wouldn't mind giving him another year, not many players with his quality would be happy with only sub appearance

  • This season must be his best in terms of injuries.

Him coming on yesterday I knew we'd end up scoring as it changed our attacking play from the previous 150 minutes of the tie

    That'll be money well spent!
  • I have always had a funny feeling it is written in the stars for Chuks to score a last minute winner in the play off final.
If Rufus can do it when it was needed I’m sure Chuks can.

(I know it wasn’t the winner but you get my drift)
  • Love Chuks , but for us his next game is the last one. I still think it will be the most important

9 subs named in the championship. I would keeep him for a year on that basis but if we don’t go up, thanks chucks but bye.

i do appreciate why this post will get lols. I would only keep him as he is very low risk to have on a bench of 9. Mbick isn’t ready, Hilton’s a no and I’ll drive gas wherever he is going next year. I would rather keep chucks and spend money on another wide player than have to spend money replacing chucks

First up, I'll just say I love Chuks. I always cheer for him when he comes on.

However, we need to look at the economics of this. It's clear that Mbick is "Chuks in waiting". When Chuks was suspended, Mbick was straight away in the squad. If you watch how he's played in the last few games, he is clearly being groomed as our new "agent of chaos"...

Now, is he ready yet? Absolutely not. But that's where coaching comes in. 2023-2024 pre-season, Miles was crocked at Welling, and Karoy Anderson came on. And turned in a man of the match performance. My mate, who knows little about our academy players, was dumbfounded. He asked me who that kid was. So, I gave him my (limited) knowledge of who he was, and what he did. Against Wealdstone, in another PSF (the debut of a certain Lloyd Jones) he again came on, was outstanding, and scored a goal. Karoy's career has been on an upward curve ever since. But, most people would agree as a substitute ATM, not a starter.

But, if that's the case with Mbick, what's the downside? Chuks can't start anyway. So, we have an option of playing someone who is well past his peak, won't learn anything now, has a poor injury record, and has no resale value. Or, a kid who's still learning, you can still coach in the finer nuances of being "a big lump up front", can easily improve to become a first team regular, and has a high potential sell-on value if he does make the grade.

Oh! And is potentially, at the moment at least, on a far lower salary, and as an U21, has no impact on SCMP. Allowing NJ the budget to bring in a player who we need to strengthen. (Whatever league we're in!) Without risking incurring the wrath of the suits at the EFL!

    Sorry, everyone, it's a no-brainer...

Chuks a few years ago was a championship player. The Chuks we see now is still useful at this level but I don’t think he’s a championship player anymore, and we should be able to attract players that are at least that good but also can start games

He’s never been able to start games .
  • I'm hoping that Chuks goes out in a blaze of glory, along with the rest of the team. I would only want him to have a coaching contract next season, similar to Jason Pearce, with a possible move up to coaching with the first team in a year or two.

Equally he has his property business and his young player counselling activities.

Back in our Championship season, if it were not for an outrageous referee offsidedecision, he would have kept us up and ended our Millwall no win streak.
