401-7 Stewart out for 182. Shame he couldn't get a double century. Benjamin 88 not out. 8.4 overs to try for a 5th batting point or eke out as many runs as possible. Benjamin deserves a ton.
I did wonder after his magnificent match against Middlesex a few seasons back whether he could become a worthy successor to Stevo. Hasn't really happened but yesterday has me wondering again.
He certainly has the ability, if not the consistency, to produce extraordinary performances.
Ah might be because I'm sat in Starbucks waiting for my car to be done (not by Starbucks...) and the WiFi is restricted as that link still doesn't work. Thanks anyway

I was out all day yesterday so perhaps someone eIse can answer this - is Jaydn Denly injured? The reason I ask is that I see Leaning has bowled 13 of the 79 overs to date but Jaydn hasn't bowled a single ball. Surely he's in the side for both disciplines so why haven't we chucked him the ball especially when a pair have put on an undefeated partnership of 168?

Don't know the answer to your question but Leaning may have bowled for maintenance of over rate reasons rather than genuine hope of wicket taking potential.

Agreed but I'm sure that Jaydn would have enhanced that over rate. 118 overs now and still not bowled a ball so he must be carrying an injury albeit that he has always been more of a white ball than a red ball spinner - last Saturday he played for Whitstable and was the sixth bowler to come on, bowling just half a dozen overs.
What that does mean, however, is that should Evison be fit for the next match he can't come in for the out of form Leaning unless we play Parkinson for Gilchrist - Ball is likely to be replaced by Ogborne (otherwise why did we take him on loan for two games if we aren't going to play him at all) and we are unlikely to drop Kashif Ali, our only overseas, or Stewart who has been MOM here. Or we carry on playing Leaning and replace Jaydn with Evison which does seem harsh given he batted very well in the first innings.

I doubt we'd replace Ball with the rookie Ogborne. I imagine Ball was signed to play, while Ogborne was signed as backup.

That is assuming that Ball's body is up to playing two 4-day back to back matches, something he hasn't done for over a year. He's 34 now, has a history of being injured and has already bowled 30 overs to date in the match. Equally, I can't think of any loan deal where a player is signed in case he might be needed given that he could be playing 2s cricket. We were also happy to play Ogborne last season. If anything, I could probably see neither playing if Garrett, who played for Sevenoaks Vine yesterday, is deemed fit.
120-4 and a lead of 28. Finch, Compton, Muyeye and DBD all departed. It's going to take a repetition of our first innings to get anything from this game now.

Wicket taker ?
Grant " All Rounder Supreme " Stewart !

Bancroft and Charlesworth the openers both out.
We have a bowling point to add to our 4 batting points!
Keep plugging away, lads !
