Big innings for Leaning this, can’t see how he warrants a place in the team at the minute
Mainly because he's the only "spinner" we play. Clearly either Jaydn is injured or there is a refusal to bowl him and we don't want to play an out and out spinner that can't bat in the top seven like Parkinson. In fact, we don't have another spinner in the squad that turns it away from the left hander available given that O'Riordan has been injured all season and Muyeye has given up bowling (or we've given up on him). As you say, it's still a big innings for Leaning if only for the fact that he has yet to hit a 50 this season.
We only have one more CC game before we break for the Blast so the chances are that we will persevere with Leaning for his "added value" of off spin and his catching at slip. 189 runs from 11 innings with a top score of 40 at an average of 17.18 does rather tell its own story.
Chris Benjamin is way too low at 6, as he's constantly having to play with the tail.
The alternative is for him to open and Finch to bat further down. It's not ideal Finch opening and keeping anyway and Benjamin made two or three basic keeping errors when he did do the job that cost us. He's now scored 295 runs in his 6 innings at an average of 59.
Cameron Green is the new batsman for Gloucester, which, incidentally, was the name of the road I lived on when I used to live in Taverham (prior to me moving a bit further north to Briston).
