I hope I have succeeded in buying some tickets.

I'm fairly confident my credit card will be debited just not so sure, given postal strikes etc, whether I will ever receive the tickets! I'll believe it when I have them in my grubby mitt!

I was told 700 left when I phoned for mine this morning.

If you are talking to me 10am which was my understanding of when tickets became available to scum class season ticket holders:-)
  • I had my card debited nearly two weeks ago for this game and still yet to recieve the tickets, i was simply told to pick them up on the day if they havent arrived.......great

I think the system they've adopted for these tickets is poor. I too am a season ticket holder and have been for many many years but there never seems to be any reward for this. Yet people who have bought two away tickets this season were higher priority than those who have loyally followed the club for decades. I did manage to get tickets for the Gillingham game but Charlton's approach to away game tickets sometimes is below standard. Bournemouth who are in league two even have a better system than ours.

Ah ok. I rang at 10am and there was a queue of about 11 people on the phone. Managed to "get" 5 tickets though.

WIWLB - i'm not even sure CAFC would have received the tickets from Gills that far in advanced? Dunno though.

No offence intended here but why should having a home season ticket entitle someone to an away ticket over those who go to away games more regularly?
And even with such a system in place, there were still around 800+ tickets that went on sale to season ticket holders without an away history. We sell out so rarely it's not even worth worrying about.

Thought we had ambitions to be a premier league club? In every sense. Just because I have a home season ticket does not mean I do not travel to away games. In fact I go to most away games, but just think It's unfair that someone who went to say, Norwich and Orient gets priority over a fan who's paid hundreds of pounds for a season ticket. Will it be acceptable that fans who have been to two away games get priority over fans who have been to every home game this season (including the JPT) for a play off final ticket if it were to happen. What I also find a bit out of order is that fans with two away purchases were allowed to buy more than one ticket. No offence taken by the way! ;)

AlexAnder, Gillingham had plenty of tickets left in the home end earlier this week when i checked in case I couldn't get in the away end. Just pretend you're one of them!

Just have to make sure you phone within an hour of them going on general sale. I'm sure this would've worked today as well, as others have testified.

I thought the people who got first dibs were season ticket holders who had been to two away games and season ticket holders with Valley Gold.

I didn't realise non- season ticket holders who had been to two away games got priority over remaining season ticket holders. That is wrong if true. Season ticket holders showed commitment when the Club needed the money and that should be recognised in my opinion.

I agree with you on the number of tickets people could buy. That to me is a bit stupid. Also WSS - you say you bought 5 today, did you have 5 ST numbers or were you able to get 5 outright no questions asked?
But you're missing the point over the priority. People could only buy if they had an away history AND were season ticket holders. So obviously they have priority over someone who is just a ST holder with no away history.

The ranking for priority seemed fair but a bit odd that if you "qualified" you could get 2 tickets - I benefited from this but could understand people's frustration

Is this correct? I thought it was ANY fan who had bought 2 away tickets?
  • From the OS:

"Season-ticket holders, Valley Gold members and fans who have purchased tickets for two away games in 2009/10 became eligible, after places were initially restricted to season-ticket holders with Valley Gold membership since June 2009 or season-ticket holders who have purchased places for two away games this season, with each person permitted two tickets apiece."

So initially you could only get tickets if you were a ST holder AND had the away history.

But non-season ticket holders who had been to two away games still got priority over the standard season ticket holder who hadn't

No they didn't. They could both buy as of this morning.

But could the non-season ticket holder who had an away purchase history buy tickets before this morning?

(Sorry to drag this on! If I've got it wrong this must be the most pointless debate in Charlton Life history!)

Tbh what annoys me is when people moan about the priority tickets being able to be bought in 2's, as ive been to all but 1 home game and most aways, yet under this system i wouldnt have any priority. Just because i havent got a season ticket, which is because i simply can't afford it as i have no job at the moment (impossible to get one in these times of economic struggle), i get disregarded. Luckily my dad is a ST holder and has been to the aways with me so he got me a ticket. So, from my point of view, its like im being punished for being poor. You can never satisfy everyone with the way the ticket priorities are done anyway, just thought id voice my opinion.

The way it reads though Chris is like this.

1st Priority: season-ticket holders with Valley Gold membership since June 2009 or season-ticket holders who have purchased places for two away games
2nd Priority: Season-ticket holders, Valley Gold members and fans who have purchased tickets for two away games
    3rd Priority: ST Holders
    4th Priority: General Sale
