The 1st 10 games will help paint a picture. Our 1st league game will probably be a premier league relegated side at home.

At least it won't be the car crash it was in 2019/2020 and we can also be better in the january transfer market.

I know it's going to be a very difficult season but we have to be positive and not over complicate things.

We definitely do need to make a lot of improvements in the summer and everyone has to fight for their place in the starting 11.

Tempering expectations will be key. We need to remember and cherish how we finished this season because next season will be rough as dogs.
I'd be happy with survival. Consolidate and build. Let's just hope that we remember where we've come from and stick with it.

Hope for mid table with a few new signings. The Board will support NJ and with bigger crowds in sight, the sky is the limit.

NJ will change our style of play for the Championship and thanks to him, we have our club back

This. Even the defence has to pass a test imo, as it’s one thing letting the cloggers of Wycombe launch balls in & powderpuff Orient have all the ball, quite another keeping out teams with a lot more power, pace & skill than we’ve faced this season.

Gonna have to remember it’ll likely be a mini league of us, Preston, Portsmouth, Hull City, Oxford United and Derby County without significant investment.

We started 19/20 really well don't forget. NJ might not like loans in L1, as it's hard to build a long term team around them, but we desperately need added quality, a 2025 version of Conor Gallagher for example.

A better goalie? Come on be fair, Mannion has had a super game today. His handling of some dangerous crosses in the last few minutes was superb.

He's more than good enough for us next season.

As an outsider i can see why you'd think that, but i don't really see the play off games as a fair way to judge us. Wycombe for a start had zero intention of playing any football, they were only there for a battle, and finals are more about managing the occasion than anything else, as Sheffield United found out yesterday.

Why not judge as a side who in the second half of the season were only 4 points worse off than Birmingham in the form table? Why not judge us as a side who kept 23 clean sheets in 49 league and play off games?

Of the top 6 this season:

We beat Birmingham and lost away.
1 draw, 1 defeat v Wrexham
We drew twice with Stockport.
3 wins and a draw v Wycombe.
3 wins v Orient.

Overall that's 2 defeats in 13 games v the top 6 sides.

Don't get me wrong, we know we're not going to take the league by storm, but our defence is solid and under Jones very few sides are going to roll us over. We've got a solid foundation there to build from and we're definitely capable of staying up.

Not many sides make it through the playoffs conceding no goals, we conceded 5 last time after all.

That sort of solidity is what will serve us well in the Championship

Well said. Play off games are always going to be tight. We went one up today and made sure orient didn’t get back in it. If it was a league game, rather than a Wembley final, it would not have ended 1-0

My expectations are we'll sign more pace, power, athleticism and aggression. Height, strength and speed up front, an upgrade or two in midfield without losing any of the intensity and aggression, and some strong competition in defence.

Now we're in the Championship hopefully that'll be combined with a touch more flair and creativity. Somewhere out there, there will be that special player or two who can add the basics Jones (rightly) wants and help take us up another level when it comes to technical ability.

It’ll be interesting to see if Jones can convince those kind of players to pick him over other Championship clubs. Or how many creative / independent players he’ll actually want (see treatment of Alfie).

That wouldn’t be difficult - Bowyer was left with a far worse team than the one that won at Wembley

Yet he nearly kept us up, so I reckon NJ has a better chance know ing he should receive better backing from the owners.

I wonder if promotion will be the springboard for serious discussions about buying back the valley and the training ground?.

For me, getting promotion today meant much more to the club than 'just' getting into the championship

Next season championship going to be very tough realistically the other 2 promoted teams have no chance of going down. Wednesday, Stoke, Hull, Oxford, Pompey, Preston look like our main competition to stay up. Considering theres 7 teams and 3 relegation spots survival would be a solid achievement

You look at that, and I'd have it like this:

Teams we realistically, won't/shouldn't be finishing above:

Birmingham, Blackburn, Coventry, Ipswich, Leicester, Boro, Millwall, Norwich, Sheffield United, Southampton, West Brom

Teams that we could aim to finish above:

Bristol City (losing manager), Derby, Pompey, QPR, Sheffield Wednesday, Swansea, Watford, Wrexham

Teams we will probably need to finish above to stay up:

Hull, Oxford, Preston, Stoke.

It's going to be extremely difficult, but with a few signings I'd back us to finish anywhere between 15th to 21st.

Either way, few nice away days and survival would be a fantastic achievement and I'd be happy with that.

Honestly I would take one place above relegation.

It’s going to be very difficult. This isn’t a great group of players, but we are solid with a manager who knows what he’s trying to do. The football will be pretty terrible next year, but it might just keep us up.

We started 19/20 really well don't forget. NJ might not like loans in L1, as it's hard to build a long term team around them, but we desperately need added quality, a 2025 version of Conor Gallagher for example.

We did and then we had stacks of injuries . We’ve been lucky on that score this season ( or our sports science is better ). But our back up hasn’t been good enough even this season, which is why we need a lot of new players .
