Just rewatched the goal properly for the first time. Their keeper clearly expects Gilbert to take it and sets up the wall accordingly. Really smart from all involved for Gillesphey to take instead
There was a moment someone (I think Docherty) ran up to whisper something into Gilbert's ear. At that moment I knew Gillesphey would take it (and said so)
I wonder if that was to make the keeper think that Gilbert would take it  ;)

After all, the one thing Orient know about Gilbert is that he can take a decent set piece, as it was his 2 late corners that we scored from at Brisbane Road after the keeper flapped at them.
Docherty also points towards Gillesphey when he walks away, watching it on replay.

I think had Gilbert taken it, it might have been for one of the runners to connect with, rather than a direct effort.
  • Morning after the day before. Got to Euston for the 8.40. Loads of red shirts. Blimey, just about to shout out red armeee. And saw standard chartered on. The shirts. It's the glory hunters bus tour.
What a day! We just know how to win ugly don't we! Love it!
  • For those watching on the game on sky as abroad or anything else etc

Were Charlton fans a lot louder throughout the whole match? Start to finish?
  • A fantastic day. No need to write a novel, but enjoyed all things football and non-football. Met some lifers, who were full of enthusiasm, kindness and great conversation.

I'm going to watch the whole game back midweek. The only surprise was that we didn't see Aneke and Godden paired together for any minutes. I have a sneaky feeling that Godden would have either created or scored to make it 2-0 in the final 20 minutes.

    Well done to everybody.

They were very loud, though I could hear Orient fans whenever they were attacking our goal.
  • What a bloody day that was! I had a good feeling as soon as we got the free kick that it was going in but wasn’t particular confident before the game started I must admit.

Just catching up on all of the interviews and videos now to re live it all over again 😁

My only doubt was if the match ended with penalties.

The Orient keeper has a very decent record saving penalties.

  • What a day! That’s why I love this club. My son came for the first time in years, the wife has been drawn in this season so much so that I may have to get season tickets for the first time since 89-90 season! Up the addicks, and sending out some Jones man love..

We were on the train from Bromley South at 9.30 and got talking to a bloke & his grandson who had a Chelsea scarf on their way up to Forest. Bloke must have been mid 60's and had no clue about life outside Of The Prem. No idea we were playing, or where !!!  No clue about which division we were in & asked "who was you manager all those years back when you were in the Premier League" as he couldn't quite remember.
  • Had an old lad feint in front of me while being held in the queue for the tube. Didn’t know if he was one of us or an O supporter. But he got helped to the side of the queue.
I hope he’s okay whoever you are.

Loving the smoke flares during the game. Anyone know what what chemicals and dyes are used in them as might need to plan ahead with some life insurance?
Was just a few rows in front of me - Tasted absolutely fine!
