The right decision but can’t pretend I’m not sad about it. He had the ability to do something magic and I was always excited when he came into the pitch. He lost his pace and ability to run but he never lost the ability to create a dangerous chance out of virtually nothing, like he did at Wembley.
It’s the right time for all parties but he’s genuinely someone that will be welcomed back with open arms whenever he wants to visit. Think it’s unlikely we face him on the pitch but if we do he’ll get a great reception7 -
Sad to see him go, but it’s the right decision he was on his last legs. Hopefully gets himself a new club one we can play in the league cup to show him our appreciation. Good luck Chuks!0

I still think he could do a job as a sub. Someone must have the stats of him being on the pitch during his second spell, felt like we didn't lose too many4

Still think he probably looks around for offers for a while and then retires when nothing comes in near what he’s on now. Would love to see him carry on playing though0 -
Good luck Chuks, loved it when he caused chaos for the opposition. Also glad he was part of the team that got Charlton promoted. 💪4

Absolute beast....unplayable in his prime but sadly his body has let him down.....right decision. Best of luck for the future Chuks.2

Glad that he went out on a high. An iconic character.0

Best wishes to him. Hope we never have to play against him. But right decision.3

It’s the end of an era and the right thing to do.Good luck Chucks and thanks for the memories.2

Unstoppable on his day. Loved the way the whole ground used to get excited when he appeared from the bench. Hope he succeeds in whatever he goes onto next5

Chuks was a game changer and there ain't many of them around.
Huge physical presence - not always appreciated by referees, almost every 50 50 decision went against him. I'll miss him, but he and Charlton Athletic move on - as they must.5 -
Changed the game that night in Bolton and from there things really began to take shape. Just for that night worth many thanks let alone all the entertainment over his time with us.5

It had to happen, hope if finds a chance to shine at another club. He always made you sit up when he came on for us.
I reckon he had the best skills of any of our players2 -

Such an iconic player, even though we scarcely got his full potential due to injury. Just the sight of him coming on in the 80th plus minute must of resulted in the soiling of many a League One defenders underpants.
Farewell to Charlton's NHS Ambassador!

I would be amazed if he signed elsewhere. No club would take on the liability of a player, however good, that can only do 35 mins (except us of course).2

Genuinely so many games in the last few years where I was sat there either bored or resigned to our fate, and Chuks coming on gave me a brief bit of hope/entertainment/occasional goal.
Have a lot of time and respect for him, wish him all the best for his next move.10 -

Sadly it might be the end for him. Wembley was a great way to go out.1 -
Gutted for the fella……he leaves with fond memories of some great moments.
He was the real deal at one time.
Good luck Chucks.2 -
What with wages and medical bills, could Chuks be the most expensive player in our history?
When he was good, he was very good. When he wasn't... he was normally injured.
So long Chuks2 -

A real handful for any defender. Wish him well.
