Man City

Here's a thought, to get away from the nonsense about Nathan Jones...

115 charges. Just the 115 charges. All left until the end of the season.

Season's ended now.

Do I hear the sound of a large broom, and a 115 charge carpet being lifted?

  • Pretty sure they'll be found guilty of something, quite likely the non-cooperation. But i think they'll get off the most serious charges.

At worst i think they'll get a fine (which will mean nothing to them) and a very small points deduction. Some of the talk i've seen of 30-50 points deductions or relegation is a bit fanciful.

Kieran Maguire was on The Overlap podcast last week as it was all about ticket pricing etc.

He said similar that they'll get off the most serious charges as they'll have to be actual proof of on-the-books fraud, which there won't be otherwise it means the auditors were also in on it.

Where as the off-the-books stuff can be found as theres more likely to be breadcrumb trails with money moving through peoples accounts.
  • I'm also sure they already know their fate. Pep signed a new deal, they recently signed Haaland to a long term deal, Rodri is about to renew, they signed a few players in January, and they're allegedly close to signing 3 players before the Club World cup.

All of these guys and their agents would surely be asking, "what's happening with the court case?" They're not signing for a club about to get deducted 40 points or relegated.
  • I reckon the case will drag on a bit longer, but in the end they’ll be utterly fucked by this. Just gonna lodge that prediction now and cross my fingers
  • I would imagine Manchester City have so much money that if they wanted to they can bribe the football decision makers to leave them alone.
  • It’s actually closer to 130. They should be relegated and titles stripped, but they’ll get a fine and minor points deduction probably.

Magic Hat on BlueSky a good follow for this case:

  • Fine and points deduction that ensures that it’s unlikely that they can win the title. Ten points maybe.

  • Sorry all been away a while and I know everyone has been waiting for me to give my opinion, I can already see what happens with this case. The most likely scenario is this -

City get a record fine something along the lines of £70,000,000 plus and at worst a points deduction going forward (like 9+ but certainly not enough to relegate them), no titles will be stripped which to be honest i don't have a big issue with that as who wants to win a title in retrospect anyway. There will be no relegations etc and the belief there would be with almost no precedent is a bit bizarre. However City will immediately release a statement expressing their anger at the fine and points deduction, announcing immediate plans to appeal. The appeal will linger for months possibly even years and City will quietly withdraw the appeal, to give the impression an actual punishment has taken place.

Whilst i agree they wont get punished beyond a fine and a points deduction, why should they be relegated ? there is literally no precedent for that as far as I'm aware ?
  • Personally, I would like a retrospective points deduction. Enough that their place in the Champions League goes to Villa...

Looks like the guy who is on twitter, he's an Arsenal fan who hates City so his opinion isn't exactly going to be impartial.

I don’t think they’d be relegated, but they could get hit with a big enough points deduction. I can’t be arsed to read all the charges, but if the max deduction was 9 points, could they get a cumulative deduction for each year the infringement took place.

Wouldn't that be illegal ?  :o Sorry but I can't see that happening. That's like saying ...... I don't know, something like a Premiership football club playing in a stadium that they haven't paid for but tax payers paid for it instead while they sold their old stadium & kept all the dosh, hahaha ridiculous !
  • "If there is any justice in the world"... Is of course a futile and patently untrue saying, when it comes to Man City of course. And while they are not the only culprits in a long list of rule breakers and fudgers, they are currently the ones that exasperate, vex and irk me.

Would like to see them relegated but "money does talk", a very true saying of course.

    Wankers!
