  • Charles must have forgiven him for calling them 'old unappreciative c****s'.
  • 100% deserved
  • "Lady" Beckham will be in her element now, even more pompous and insufferable...🤦‍♂️
    ???
  • Well deserved and as @JohnBoyUK says Beckham has come a long way since that '98 red card.

I thought about knighted footballers only yesterday when I saw a picture of Sir Alistair Cook. I’m not a big fan of the honours system and I like Cook, but seeing the time lag for a working class footballer to be knighted compared to that for a posher (no pun intended) cricketer is quite telling

Is she? Always seems alright to me. Anyway, congratulations to Beckham. One of my all time favourites.
  • Only one from that era, bar maybe Ashley Cole to actually show up in an England shirt. Model professional and changed how we view footballers.

Each to their own I suppose mate, just my opinion, but she always comes over a center stage posing...

  • About time. Legend.

Well deserved too in my opinion.

He has come a long long way since getting sent off against the Argies in 1998.
A very good footballer in his time, he's been a great ambassador for his country on and off the pitch and does a huge amount of charity work.
He's a bit of a legend in my eyes tbh.
Not aware of his charity work, but willing to listen.
    What has he done?

    UNICEF to start with.

Let's hope they do the right thing and finally give the most deserving of sports (and life) legends what he deserves - arise Sir Kevin Sinfield.
    100% spot on

He keeps bees which are good for the eco system.
  • Very well deserved.
  • Does lots for underprivilaged people. Nice bloke too by all accounts. Pleased for him and his family.

She has suffered terrible abuse over the years from the press and football chants.
I think I would look a bit fed up.

Remember the Greek game when Becks played them almost on his own. Deserves the knighthood just for that game!

That game he was everywhere, Sven ended up getting a lot of shit from the historic media I guess as social media wasn't really a thing. He had David Beckham and Michael Owen when he came in who were genuinely consistently at what I'd call an elite level. The bare bones of a decent 11 but not a lot of depth at all.

I think David Beckham got a stupidly harsh time for that red, referees the world over are letting that go, same applies to Rooney in 2006, that was never deliberate, if it was he styled it really well. Besides Carvhalllo should have at least got booked for going straight through the back of him.

Anyway, arise Sir David. Bet he wished he did more shagging back in the day before having his life taken over by the woman he chose to settle down with (the media as much as her choreography of it)

Thoroughly deserved, I would have disappeared off into the ether once I'd retired if I was him
  • Well deserved and I imagine it’s a real honour for him. Loved his comments about his grandparents when the queen passed. There was always a rumour that his dad was Charlton. Never confirmed or denied to my knowledge.

Ted Beckham was, and is, a fanatical Manchester United supporter.  He even gave David the middle name "Robert", in honour of Bobby Charlton.  That's probably the beginning and end of his support for anything Charlton-related.
