Still find the Preston thing odd, their fans haven't really stopped talking about him since the FA Cup game but there's not really been any information from journalists to say they're interested
I heard at the weekend from someone who works at Preston and would know, not only are they interested but had agreed terms. Hope it turns out to be wrong, but that is what I was told.
I think that’s more than plausible. He’s been in negotiations with us for months and shown no inclination to put pen to paper. You’d have thought that he’d have committed before now with the proviso that we were playing in The Championship. He’s a silly lad in my view. Preston if it’s true will be his seventh (?) Club and the only one where he’s played to his potential is with us and under Jones. If they’ve offered lots more money than we were prepared to offer then I can see his reasoning but I think it’s actually a step backwards for him in playing terms. Only time will tell but I have a feeling he’ll regret chasing the money at this point.
He may be a „silly lad“, but he is still only a lad, and therefore susceptible to dodgy arguments from an agent who stands to gain more from sending him to Preston than staying with us.
Is that an unfair take, @Swisdom, you may know the agent?
For what it's worth I dated for several years a key member of the Preston women's team and we still talk a lot! Small hasn't been at their training ground at any point from what I've been told ( although he still could be on holiday idk)

he works with Paolo Vernazza who has a bit of previous for not quite following the rules and acting in his own best interests….
hopefully Fortune is the guvnor there however he is NOT a registered agent himself according to the list on the FA website
hmm. My angst has returned....
How come JF is still not a registered agent? He has been doing this for a while. This sort of general murkiness does not help improve the reputation of the agency "profession".

I think you know the agent. It is Jon fortune, so don't think you can chalk this one down to the agent. It was simply Preston are offering a lot more money than we were.
In the end, any agent is supposed to work for their client, not Charlton Athletic.
I’m starting to get vibes with Small that we may be in an NJ knows best situation here. After all, he did regularly substitute him and it usually worked out.
We know the club have put a contract offer in front of him which he has not yet signed. It suggests he / his agent might value himself higher than the club do. I love watching him play - he brings great excitement and wholehearted commitment and I’ll be disappointed if we don’t re-sign him. IMO he’s not that easy to replace - but then NJ loves to prove us all wrong on occasion as we know only too well.

Recommended by Solly and Henderson.
His new boss Martin added: “We are thrilled to welcome Jack on board.
“He was strongly recommended to me by Chris Solly and Stephen Henderson at Charlton, where he served as a training goalkeeper.

Even if they are Jon Fortune...
