  Seeing players even younger than me (34) "retire" from football. I don't think I'll ever make it.

  Don't worry there's a whole number of footballing retirements to come that will make you feel even older. Referees next, then managers, then owners.

  I laughed at this then had a sudden icy chill, so had to check. The old boy has a few years on me yet, but this may be the last pope who is older than I am.
