Offiah would be the perfect Small replacement.

The best player that played against us at the Valley this season.

"Derby are in advanced talks to sign Blackpool midfielder Sonny Carey on a free transfer. #bfc #dcfc"

And we signed Sonny a few hours later. Pete lost a bit of credibility today, as did a lot of journos, except Rich, as per.

Definitely feel like Carey was announced to soften the Thierry Small blow, wouldn’t be surprised if there’s more in the pipeline

Id take Galbraith over Small all day long
Categorically 0% chance of us signing Ethan Galbraith. There are bigger and better teams who will take a punt and pay a lot more than us.

Thierry Small leaving for Preston is a marked reminder of how small a fish we are in this pond.
Maybe better teams but as a club we have the stadium the support maybe it's upto the owners to spend a proper bit of wedge and force the issue for as much as the streamline squad talk and how well we did last year it won't work in this division imo and we will be playing catch up from the off as big relegation contenders If we don't get top quality in the door, but maybe Nathan can work the miracle twice.
Agreed we’re a big club and the owners do need to spend money, but at the end of the day we’re newly promoted and will have a bottom 5 budget.

We’re not going to spend millions on one player, we need to be smart with our recruitment and I’m more than happy to be shrewd in this window. Josh Edward’s, Kayme Ramsey, Lloyd Jones, Mannion, Godden, Coventry, etc. all good players we signed for little money.

I’ve got faith Nathan Jones knows what he’s doing and will know exactly what he needs to survive/thrive next season.
  • Sean Roughan more realistic, I think he would be an excellent signing

Ramsay more than capable in that RWB role if we can get a right sided centre half

of course but that isn’t his best role, surely it’s better to find someone whose best role is RWB
  • Ramsay didn’t look that strong coming forward, he’s definitely best in the back three

If we're defending a lead, but with Edwards on the left it's important the RWB is a more attacking WB. As good as Ramsay is that's not really his game, and if we get the balance wrong we could struggle. We looked so much better with TC and Small both offering width and being able to focus on attacking and taking players on.

Most definitely, as 'he will join when his contract expires' at Blackpool.

Hey guys first post for me on here i really like reading all your comments. Now that Thierry has been moved on would have loved him to stay I wonder whether we will go to a double pivot in a 4231 allowing tc to be in his most dangerous position wide left. Coventry alongside Galbraith would be an incredible partnership with doc pushing them as well. Would love our marquee signing to be Galbraith then sign three wingers one to compete with Tyreece on the left and two on the right although NJ doesn’t like loans they can be very useful top premier league clubs have got youngsters who could improve our squad massively and not have to break the bank either just look at jrs a few seasons back was our best player by miles.  I truly belive if we get recruitment correct and stick with NJ and the team throughout the season we stay up comfortably.

I don’t think we would move to a 4231 as 2 out of 3 CB’s only work in a back 3. Ramsay could shift to RB but it isn’t really his best role. Much more likely that Carey takes over from Berry and shifts out wide at times in my opinion

Yes he was always quite good going forward, I recall he was involved in the build up to Purrington's goal at Wembley. Now Small has gone, given Djiksteel is available on a free would be good to see him come back in. Think he and Ramsay could compliment each other quite well.

Was always very balanced overall and that was when he was 20-21 for us so nearly 6 years in championship for a solid team in Boro overall would be good.

Just typical us talking about Ex Player again but for once it makes sense.

I like Djiksteel as a right-back, not sure he’s fully suited for the wing back role.

Totally agree mate however I feel like moving forward we should move to a 4231 it’s just my favourite formation in football it’s just such a fluid formation. The recruitment needs to be right this summer it’s gonna take a lot more than one window to become an established championship team and I have full faith in NJ PC and the team to get us back to the promise land were we belong UP THE ADDICKS.

Only got 2 less goal contributions than Small playing as a fullback rather than a wingback/winger in less minutes in a higher division and wasn’t given G/A like small from Norris and Wollacott gifting us a goal

Had a chat with Ed Warrick today.

He didn't reveal anything which proves how professional and discreet he is.

Bring back 'leak on demand" Methven.
Or he doesn't have a clue what's going on, Henry.   :D

With Small gone now is Jones likely to stick with the same system or might he try something else?

We will stick with the 352 but instead of going into a 4231 in possession I think we will just play a more structured 352 going forward with the ball like what we did at the start of this season just less long ball

Ramsay could play there, but don't think we should be moving him... his pace and ability to get back and make a last ditch tackle is going to be even more important in the championship

Don't mind signing Dijksteel or Famewo aslong as they improve us. Could argue Dijksteel does but like for like replacement for Small..not sure.

Dijksteel would improve the squad - there is no cover for Ramsay and we now don’t have an experienced wing back either .

This  misunderstanding came about as Nathan Jones was overheard to say he wanted a Fox in the box type of player to push 'Godden again'.
