Seen 8 of them. The wife is dragging me to see McFly & Busted 3 times in October, twice in two days in Manchester so let's hope for Blackburn or Preston away that weekend.
13 for me. But never heard of any on the main stage on Saturday.
There's two bands that stand out the most on Main Stage that day, Sleep Token who are driving the concept of being anonymous, but there's heaps of artistry behind their music. It wasn't really my cup of tea but their most recent album is brilliant, Gethsemane is just such a powerful song.
The other band I'd recommend is Static Dress. They brought out a song recently called Face that is just brilliant, if you grew up with 2004 emo/post hardcore then you'll utterly love it. Hits you in the face but it's just so damn good.
You’ll have a great time, I’ve been to a fair few Download’s over the years and there is always a fantastic atmosphere.
I was at the first one and was right down the front when Metallica played a ‘surprise/secret’ set on the 2nd stage. I still have the drumstick Lars gave me at the end of the gig!
Hopefully the weather holds up this year, I didn't go last year but the weather looked absolutely horrendous, it was a scorcher when I last went in 2023 and tbh was an incredible festival.
This year I am not so sure, the headline acts aren't all that. Sleep Token might be the most promising, Vessel is a fantastic singer.
Highlights there for me are: Rise Against (best hardcore/punk band ever imo), Bullet for my Valentine, phenomenal catalogue and I reckon the Darkness will be a good laugh.
Sleeper there is Don Broco, probably one of my favourite more modern bands, got some absolute belters. Not sure if they are your thing @ProperCharlton but they have some right tunes. Manchester Super Reds No1 fan is a proper tune (weird title), Come out to LA, and especially 'You wanna Know' their back up vocalist who plays drums, Matt Donnelly might actually have better pipes than Rob Damiani. T Shirt song will also go off.
Post updates in here mate as I already have a bit of fomo cause I just love download for the experience, some good people there.
Ah man, I miss Download. Went almost every year from 2007-2019, only halted by the pandemic and subsequently "settling down" and starting a family. Hope to return for a day ticket next year if, as expected, Linkin Park are headlining.
Shameless plug... My own band have never had the fortune of playing Download but we've collaborated with a few artists who recently did (including Jessie Powell from Dream State and Kid Bookie) https://youtube.com/@crostpaths

Nothing wrong with a shameless plug.
I went to school with Kid Bookie/Tyronne, he was in the year below me at Poly and we both grew up around West Thamesmead. Love seeing him do well cause he was a good lad in school and I'd always see him out and about in my teen years.
He liked one of my vlogs the other day, not sure if he actually watches them though mind 😂

Last year was an absolute nightmare. The arena was a joke

I'm so glad I didn't go. It's one thing getting stuck in with that terrain, it's another to have to go back and camp in it.
2 years ago it was so dusty in some areas. Really hope the weather holds up this time for you mate, cause that swamp would genuinely ruin my weekend 😂

Will give your band a listen.
Appreciate that dude! That's good to know. Think Bookie's still based around that area, we shot the video with him at a rehearsal studio in Erith and he said he only had a short drive to get there.
Just read your comments about Don Broco, they once played the Amar Hall in Dartford. Wasn't even a music venue, more of an 18th birthday style function room that holds 100 people at best. Some mates of mine hired it to put on a few shows with local & touring bands and Broco headlined one at some point during their very early days. I wasn't keen on their first record but took notice of Automatic then fully converted when Technology came out. Absolute bangers.

It's not too bad if you have an air BnB to return to, but is dire for camping.
We still had a laugh but then you got dickheads kicking mud at everyone on purpose then getting upset when the marine with us put two of them in a restraint hold at the same time.

Heading up on Thursday — proper buzzing for it now. Won’t be camping though

8 for me.
