The foundations of the club are more sound now.We we're promoted despite Duchatalet.I know he still has horrible little duct taped shoes in background but we are pulling in one direction. This promotion feels different. I fully expect us to consolidate our place in the championship and Jones to have us challenging for the prem in a couple of years. I can't give Jones enough credit. He has galvanised the squad and now the fan base. The old " Charlton Spirit" is back. Look at that support we got at Wembley.Onwards and upwards!
These two seem to think we can stay up, kind words. Nathan Jones being the factor as per.
Saw this, and then the algorithm of YouTube recommended about 10 early predictions videos that had us to finish bottom 3....
Kind of like being the underdog again let's see what they think come August.
I love being the underdog, I won't be depressed when we lose against the likes of Leicester compared to some shit heap like Stevenage as my expectations are so low. Just looking forward to making a day of all the games and ticking off some new grounds.
Before the Dane Murphy appointment I was feeling positive about our chances of relative safety by spring under the guidance of NJ (with perhaps a couple of poor runs in the winter that scare us along the way).
After the new CEO appointment - in combination with the previous appointments of Jones, Abbott and recently Chapple, I think things are looking very bright indeed.
I am genuinely excited by the structure being built behind the scenes - it’s not oil money riches like some fans dream but it feels sensible, it feels like Charlton.
We could be in for a fun couple of years. Premier League and club ownership of the Valley by 2030 anyone?
On top of that you have a club like Ipswich who as well as parachute payments, have also just sold Delap for 30m. So even if they bank the parachute payment and just spend the Delap money, they've probably got 10 times our transfer budget just from that 1 sale. This just shows you what we're up against.
Not so sure about Ipswich. There must come a time where there has to be some ‘payback’ for all the money spent getting them from L1 to the PL. that parachute money might look a bit too tempting to those that had to fund successive promotions, especially when there will be the Delap money they can to point to for earmarking for new players and wages, plus anyone they do get won’t come in cheap be the rest of the squad will be on PL wages already
Not if they have clauses in their contract regarding relegation.

I would be more than happy to settle for a competitive Championship team and The Valley in club ownership. In fact I would have that over winning The Premier League in a insecure rented stadium.
