Dreadful signing. £840K for a bloke who scored something like 9 open play goals last season in L1, most headers from 2 yards. No link up play, poor touch, no pace, no strength and when he scored his goal v Southend he cupped his ear at our fans as though he had made a point by scoring v a non league team. Hope he leaves asap this summer.
How do you know the transfer fee to such a degree of specificity?
I doubt he is on that much money albeit he may not get the same elsewhere. Depends how much he values a short football career. He is still young. If he backs himself he is better off leaving and starting fresh even on less money than rotting in the reserves here. If he doesn't back himself he will sit around on his contract with us like Kirk and Fraser did.
A cracking post and a fair shout. What is Kirk doing nowadays?
Was Ahadme one of Scott’s signings before Jones wrestled that away from Scott ? Hard to see a future at The Valley. Quite a rebuff for Jones not to include him in any games for months.
Rich Cawley mentions in his latest podcast that there was interest in Ahadme during January, which the player ultimately chose not to pursue.
Seems NJ was happy for him to not be involved in the run-in.
Oof, that does suggest his days are numbered. Bit of a shame really, hopefully he gets a move even if it is on loan and everyone just politely forgets this last season and moves on.

Don't know. Who does? That said, might as well blame Scott (not saying you are) as he's no longer here, although Jones is bound to have been responsible for some signings in his managerial career that were unsuccessful, and will be again. Can you name a manager that hasn't? All players come with that risk
As a big money signing last summer, I find it hard to believe Jones didn't want Ahadme then, and he did play him for a while at first.

Feel a bit sorry for him really even though I think he was a dreadful signing & never wanted him even before he signed. Must be hard to keep motivated knowing that you just aren't going to be picked, I wonder what the relationship is like between him & NJ. Think we should cut our losses & let him go on a free just to get his wages off the books, who's going to pay a fee for him ?
I have no inside information, but you do wonder if the transfer fee goes up depending on appearances. Could be we've given up on him and are looking to cut the outlay. Something similar happened with Nicky Weaver I seem to recall.

Very generous of you to let him go on a free. I take it you have persuaded Gassan to walk away from three years on a salary he will never attain again in his life, just to keep our books tidy? Would that it were so simple.
We will have to pay big bucks to get rid of him, one way or another.

I don't think many fans disagreed with him!
Although i would always maintain that i think Ahadme would've done a lot better in the Charlton side that played in the second half of the season compared to the shambles we had up until December.
Strikers thrive on service and many are confidence players. He had very little of either in the first half of the season with the way we played.

Generous of me ? Grow up. Presumably you have seen his contract to know how much he earns ? By letting him go on a free it would allow a club to give him a better salary then if they had paid a transfer fee.

I think Ahadme has well and truly been found out. The chance of him earning more money elsewhere is extremely slim. The fact that he didn’t take up the interest in him in Jan points to him not being offered better of similar money. He’s going to hard to shift and he’s going to be an expensive mistake. It happens. It could have been a Scott signing or a NJ signing, or a bit of both, we’ll never know. I must give NJ credit for realising he wasn’t up to it and not letting him near the first team.

He wouldn’t . He would have been detrimental to the way we played and his lack of movement and ball control would have been found out either way. We’d have also probably resorted to lumping it up to him . Him being out of the side was one of the reasons for our success , along with Ramsay’s return, which led to defensive stability , Small/ Campbell being deployed , Godden starting regularly and collective confidence emerging .

I’d guess the interest in him in January would have been a loan and so money doesn’t come into it for him. And maybe he just wanted to stay and fight for his place.
I know I’m in a minority but I think Gassan has been written off far too early.
As has been mentioned in this thread I’d expect us to be giving Gassan plenty of game time in the early friendly matches to try and generate some interest in him. I think we will struggle to get a team to commit to buy him and for that reason I imagine we will end up loaning him out to a lower league one team.
I've said this before, but will say it again, he lacks any sort of pace. Found out in League 1 , but will definitely be found out in the Championship. Poor signing, need to get out, permanent if possible, but loan otherwise. It's a shame,as he appears to be wholehearted in his approach, and will score goals in the lower leagues, but needs to be moved on from Charlton.

Not sure what makes you think he’ll score goals in the lower leagues…

He didn't get much service for sure. I think it's also fair to say that he didn't help us earn the right. He failed to get the better of any CB in the individual battles I saw, and didn't hold the ball up or win his headers, so it kept coming back.
I'm sure he might have scored a few playing in the second half of the season in a more settled side, but did we bring him in to nod in crosses? He struggled at the primary job he was asked to do, and I think that's why we didn't see him play.
Never had a good game ever. Poor signing from day one. How you get rid …..i have no idea. Do other teams pay half his wage on loan? That may still be too expensive. Need some tough decision on this one.
Best option for us now seems to be to loan him to a club in league 1 or 2 that will play him and hope he goes on a scoring run to enable us to then get a "sale" to get him off the books in Jan/end of season

On the flip side you uncover someone like Josh Edwards from the second tier of Scotland so swings and roundabouts.
